These guys have all different interpretations in voice, makeup, some are cartoons, some are live action, some are comics, graphic novels. The mythology around the joker cant all be acredited to ledger. So please stop blowing this out of proportion. Its a summer blockbuster people will wait at midnight to see and line up for but heath ledger is nowhere near daniel day lewis, marlon brando, al pacino, etc.

But Bardem can win for playing virtually the same kind of character, simply because the movie wasn't a comic book movie? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. The Academy are a bunch of pretentious, hypocritical pricks. Always have been, always will be.
