If this is in fact true, can one logically assume that atleast 87% of the people who own a PS3 also own a HDTV?
Not at all. Many PS3 owners either received a BD movie in the box with their system or were able to take advantage of the 5 free movie offer back when it was in effect. The stat of how many PS3 owners have actually purchased a Blu-ray disc movie would be quite a bit lower.
So what you're saying is that what really should have said is: "87% of PS3 owners own by some means (typically a free offer) a Blu-ray movie with their console" instead of saying that 87% actually 'watch' Blu-ray movies on their console? Would that have been more correct?
Well, they likely 'watched' the free movie(s) they received. Watch is actually a pretty vague term. 'Bought' would be a much more interesting statistic, and would be much more indicative of the percentage that are using a HDTV.
Fine. So if they likely watched their free movie and the statistic of "87% of PS3 owners said they watch Blu-ray movies on their console" is indeed accurate, can we logically assume that atleast 87% of PS3 owners also own a HDTV?
