I've been a part of that twice, for the Avengers and The Dark Knight.

Kids movies like this are way better at home imo.

Kudos to Nolan for never putting out a hollow dumbed down film.
No but he did put out a boring bloated beyond dumb film with Leo in it

I really disliked Inception but Interstellar does look really good, but then again so does Big Hero 6. I personally think it is a great weekend with 2 good films opening

After seeing Interstellar, I'm not surprised at the opening. I think it'll have legs.

So you're telling me Nolan films are the greatest thing ever?

I don't think he's implying that, but I can say that all of Nolan's films are highly rated on IMDB because the website allows them to vote weeks prior to the release.

No. That's not what I'm saying. Heh.

I will say this, though: Christopher Nolan has one AMAZING track record.

I know. people vote over and over again. Like they do for The People's Choice Awards, or any awards that allows you to flood the votes.

Hey! The fact that I voted 623,771 times for Chloe Grace Moretz for the People's Choice Awards is a totally different thing!

This is fall and that is when Disney usually does best with it's releases. It's colder/days are shorter so families are going to the movies and kids wanna see Baymax not a Nolan epic. I personally would have loved to been able to see Interstellar this weekend but I didn't have the option cause my theater didn't get it, I plan on taking the kids to see Big Hero 6 around thanksgiving to avoid the packed houses that they have right now. I think Interstellar will do fine with overseas included (look at how well Pacific Rim did) and it losing to a pretty good looking Disney/Marvel film isn't the end of the movie going world.
Nobody is viewing this as a Marvel movie.

Only that many times. You're really slagging. Not that I know anything about multiple voting.

The one in which you describe Big Hero 6 as a "lame kid's movie" without having seen it.

It is a kid's movie... are you saying it isn't?

I am not denying that it is a kid's movie, but what makes it "lame"?

Heck, I don't even clap when I watch a sports game on tv I am passionate about, though I understand that is something very different.

I've been to plenty of showings with applause though. If you never experience it, then clearly you haven't been to any night before release day showings.
I've also seen quite a few movies that had people applauding at the end. The first Die Hard movie always comes to mind. I liked that movie so I didn't mind it. While I never join in, I've seen it happen to movies that I didn't care for also. I guess it's just folks showing their appreciation.

The only applause at my Interstellar showtime was during the Selma trailer. Some lady kept clapping for MLK.
