Polk FXI A4 Surround (wall mounted) speakers - $450

These speakers are remarkably compact for how high quality they are and work very well for a small room. I am very happy with my purchase.

A friend built me a wall mounted shelf over my TV that my fronts and center sit on for about $20.
Great choices ChadFL but, i'd say, if he could swing it and has the space for the center, I say go all the way in that line and go with the RTi A3 for fronts and
CSi A6 for the center, (given the importance of the center, i say always go with the biggest most powerful matching center your money can handle and if possible, make the space for it. you'll be happier that you did) the FXi A4 is excellent and should stay. if he doesn't have a sub, he can pick that up later.

don't think he will go wrong with whichever he goes with mind you, i'd just go ahead with the top of each line.

I'd stay within the same family to keep everything matching. while i'm sure there is probably not going to be a problem with the mixing, i stay inside the family for the front 3 so that the drivers are matching from the maker and imaging should be spot on as well as them looking identical. nothing is more important than your front 3 and inside that front 3 for HT your center is king!

sorry about that last post about the center. Klipsch makes an rc10 center and i thought that's what you were talking about. the energy's are nice too. Of course, i'd still say go with the polks.

Its ok. I had polks 10 yrs ago. First home theater setup I bought. I loved them. I can't even remember the model #s. I don't know why I never bought another. As for my room kinda upset I can't put the floorstanding speakers in(looks to crowded), gota keep the bachlor pad neat. So that's why I'm lookin for some good quality bookshelfs

I'm loving the audyssey multi eq xt. I just have an old jbl sub and its completly taken the boominess away. Can't wait till my hsu gets here. I also ordered some polk monitor 60s, cs2, and monitor 40s. So I'm looking forward to getting those all hooked up and calibrating them. Updated the firmware last nit via usb, it'll be awhile before I'm connnected to the internet. I'd need like a 100ft cable run.

just one quick honest question, why does the receiver sound lower sometimes...is it because I was coming from a cheaper receiver that didn't sound good and was just loud and screeetchy....but when you turn this one up it always sounds so clean and clear

one thing I'm noticing with this receiver is that it doesn't run as hot as most ppl say. I have mine in a nice open spot on my av rack and it runs warm, but not hot

The 3007 is a sweet receiver, does not run as hot as my 876 or 906.

But it also has less power into 4-Ohm loads, and into five and seven channels running simultaneously. ...It's Onkyo new protection circuitry that restricts total power output in these circumstances.

if your waiting for the next big thing then you will never have anything cause there is always something else new on the way! of course that may have been your point

as for the pictures, i was asking bigdolf for them, it's his thread and he got the 3007 so i was hoping he would put some photos up.

Oh and thanks, but no thanks on the nude photos.

Default Input selector wrong (MyMovie)

Hello,

I have just setup my Onkyo 3700, BD Oppo and Samsung LED panel. When using the MyMovie activities button,

1.) the DVD/BD turns on, the DVD starts running
2.) the Onkyo TX-NR3007 turns on
3.) on the Onkyo 3007 the input selector DVD/BD is selected
4.) The TV turns on and selects the right input (HDMI2)

THEN
5.) on the Onkyo 3007, the input selector changes to TV/Tape !!!!

RESULT: I can see the DVD on the TV-screen, YET no sound.

The quick fix: Then I hit the DVD/BD input selector button (hence manually change from TV/Tape to DVD/BD) and ... can hear the sound of the DVD, too.

REQUEST: I would like to avoid Nr. 5, so that the input selector remains on DVD/BD.

WHAT IS WRONG IN MY SETUP???

Which remote are you using?

* And you should disable the CEC HDMI Control feature from your receiver and your Samsung TV set.
Samsung sets are fussy with communication from other components, like your Onkyo, and this goddam CEC control feature is the culprit.

I did just hook my cable box up and the upconversion is night and day in some instances....I just need more time to actually sit down and redo my wire mgt, play with all the features, etc....I hate work

Arrow CEC TV Control should be "OFF", under HDMI options in the Menu setup.

In your Samsung TV set, go to the HDMI menu setup, and disable (turn OFF) the 'CEC HDMI Control' feature.

* And don't forget to post your final result. Others want to know too, for confirmation and reminder purpose. ...This is for the benefit of all members. Thank you.

Talking I've got a new 3007!

Well, after much consternation and fretting, I've decided to pull-the-plug and upgrade my Halo C2 prepro to the 3007!!!

Believe me, this wasn't an easy decision. I've had my C2 since 2003, and loved every minute of it. But I've come to the conclusion that it's time for me to upgrade. Lack of HDMI video/audio support was my prime motivation, along with all the other bells and whistles that have occurred in the last 7 years. I've downloaded the 3007 manual and began reading….whew! It's gonna take my a while….lots to take it and lots o' settings )

Audyssey processing is new to me, so I'm looking forward to seeing what difference it makes to my setup (I'm a Radio Shack SPL meter kinda' guy myself ). My system is only 5.1, but I'm hoping to upgrade to 6.1 or more if my room allows it (that's a whole 'nother topic). I'm planning to use the amps in the 3007 to drive all my speakers, but I still have my 5-channel A52 amp if I need more power.

I've never owned Onkyo before, and neither have anyone of my friends or family. It's primarily the forum buzz on these products that made me even consider Onkyo over the "big 3". I hope I've made the right decision I have 30 days to return the unit, but I don't buy anything expecting it to fail; I do as much research as possible.

Amazon's delivering the 3007 tomorrow, so I'm going to be very busy this weekend. Wish me luck!

Congratulations on one of the most Advanced Receiver on the Planet!

You are due for a real shock! Audyssey MultEQ XT and DSX are a tour-de-force to be reckon with. It is a very sophisticated Auto Room Correction that use FIR (Finite Impulse Response) filters (hundreds of them), that act not only in the Frequency domain but most importantly in the Time domain.
Be ready to feel the bass coming from your subwoofer with accuracy, aplomb, resolution, and reaffirmation like you never experienced before in your entire life!

I can write a book easily about your new receiver, but I won't (simply not enough time and space here).

Just one thing though: Keep in touch with your progress, check the Audyssey Setup Guide from AVS Forum, check Audyssey FAQ at their own web site, and ask me anything you wanna know in the future as your experience keep growing with your new toy.

* But, don't expect it to sound better than your HALO stuff, not in 2-channel analog listening anyway. But for Movies and Multichannel Music, it will Blow you away, unless you're not the type to be easily blown away!
I am (that type), and I was blown away myself; not because of the THX Ultra2 Plus certification, not because of the ISF video Certification, not because of the HQV Reon-VX video processor, not because of the Burr-Brown Dacs (PCM-1796) in all channels, not because of a zillion quality parts and build,... BUT BECAUSE mainly of the AUDYSSEY MultEQ XT feature...
And you also have Audyssey Dynamic EQ, Audyssey Dynamic Volume, Audyssey DSX (with choice of Width or Height channels), Dolby Pro Logic IIz (Height channels), Dolby Volume, THX Volume Plus, VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry; similar to Denon Alpha24) on all channels, and much much more... Not for the faint of heart that's for sure. And the Video Processing on that machine is simply sublime!

Now, I gotta go... Seez you and good luck.

Gab
