Default Black Christmas (2006) TVA vs Vivendi version

Apparently, for Canada, there are two 'editions' of the 2006 remake. One released in 2008 by TVA Films and one released last year by Vivendi Visual Entertainment. Does anyone know if these two differ in anyway besides the company name? I know that the TVA version is 1080i and the Vivendi version is 1080p but is that the only difference? Is the Vivendi version even out yet? It says on here that it is but I dunno. Does anyone know if is? If so, which one is better to get.

Please and thank you

Unfortunately, the Vivendi version never ended up being released. There was no official notification of this, it just never came out the day it was scheduled for.

Can anyone share details on this release from TVA Films (the one released in Canada)? I think I am one of the few that enjoyed the remake - granted I have never seen the original to compare it to. Might give the original a try though.

I might end up importing the Canadian release next month. I would like to see at least one review for the BD, but might just get it with my fingers crossed.

You might want to check out the info on cinemasquid.com. It also has a link to a comprehensive Blu-Ray review from dvdbeaver.com which includes 1080p screenshots. Hope this helps. Its the TVA version btw.

I got mine for around $25 last week from Amazon.ca. Should be getting it this week. I held off for a month or so to see if the price on Amazon would drop, but it never did...

I didn't hear many good things about this release. I suppose I will wait for a proper US release. I know that it won't be available for quite some time in America as this film, along with many others by this studio, are in limbo. I'm in no rush for this movie, but I would like to purchase it once it receives a release with at least some aggressive audio.

Why is this so hard to get on blu-ray? And no re-releases? There is no region b release (I think?) out there. I also want this, been missing in my collection for way to long now, and I will never in a million years buy the dvd.

I bought this a few months back but waiting till around Christmas to watch it. Always liked this movie, it may sound daft but its got a cosy Christmassy feel to it i really enjoy, as well as loads of hot women too

Watched this last night. It really had a lot of potential but unfortunately it has the most annoying and ridiculous killer ever. I of course am referring to
[Show spoiler]Agnes
. What the hell was Glen Morgan thinking?

The original is such a classic though.

Just saw this... Man does it suck. The pacing at the end is just terrible, and the script is mostly crap. The whole Billy and his family thing and how all of that plays out is just laughable. It seems like the kind of trashy thing that Rob Zombie would come up with. Although it is actually worse than what Rob came up with for his Halloween remake. A movie that I bashed endlessly in the Halloween thread.

Yes, I finally found a remake that annoys me more than the Halloween remake. As many issues as the Halloween remake has I do have to say that it is better paced than this remake. The backstory is not as laughable even if it is more cliche than what we get in this remake.

Granted, the kills here are pretty good and the movie actually does have a really good look to it. It actually does have a more Christmas feel than the original, but these three strong points can't make up for what is a terrible movie otherwise. I actually felt bad for the cast here. Honestly, it doesn't shock me that the director went into hiding after this failure.
