It was fun. I'll definitely buy it when priced right.

Biggest disappointment of the year for me. I dug all the references to old school films, but it the plot was just bad, even for a kung fu flick. And the martial arts was incredibly forgettable. Unfortunately it was a lot of CG kung fu of the type with stylish posing and very little fighting. Hopefully the extended version will be better. I wanted to like this too.

Would prefer the original cut or something closer to it upon release, an extra 12 minutes isn't much :/ And I'd like to see what was left out as its usually far more superior

Really?

Of all the movies released this year, this was the one you'd hedged your bets on, as being good?

Really?

In his defense it looked decent and came from RZA, who is a known fan of kung-fu. I thought for sure his first directorial debut would be a lot "better" than how this one turned out.

I swear people either love or hate this movie, I rarely see an in between opinion.

I've seen a few people just outright loathe it whereas I loved it so much I went to see it 3 times in the opening week, and would have gone back even more times.

Either way I'm excited for this to hit blu-ray, easily a first day purchase and viewing for me

I was about to say the same thing. I might pick this up when it hits the bargain bins. Loved the look of the movie and the soundtrack. Hated everything else.

Cannot wait for this blu release, will get it day one. I really enjoyed it, I was worried after hearing negative reviews but can see myself enjoying it over and over just like my old school shaw brothers flicks. Loved seeing Gordon Liu in it along with some of the other direct references to old school kung fu flicks.

I watched the unrated version last night and I wasn't a fan of the changes/additions aside from 1.

Now personally I absolutely loved this movie, saw it 3 times in the theaters in the first week it came out. Call me whatever you want but I loved it. It was exactly what I wanted. It wasn't supposed to be a cinematic masterpiece, it's a kung fu movie from RZA with Russell Crowe. If you expected great dialogue and acting and an intricate plot then I'm sure you were disappointed.

Anyway....if you haven't seen this yet and are planning on either buying the blu-ray or renting it, do yourself a favor and watch the theatrical version instead of the unrated, it really is the superior version. Not because it's shorter, but because the minor changes (for me at least) severely altered a part of the movie and some other minor changes just didn't fit or were unnecessary to include.

There was literally one scene they added to the unrated version that I was happy to see, the rest I had no need for, and one in particular really really bothered me a lot

I've been a long time fan of Kung fu flicks. Grew up watching them. Have an extensive collection of Shaw Brothers flicks, etc. and I was disappointed with this movie. It reminded me a lot of Kid With The Golden Arm (Shaw Bros/Venoms flick). I know RZA loves his kung fu as well, and you can see that somewhat in this movie, but I feel that the studio made him change/edit/cut a lot of stuff, and that it's not entirely RZA's fault.

I picked it up today today on Bluray/DVD combo, to show support. I want more flicks like this to be made in the future, and if he gets another shot at another flick, hope he learns from his mistakes on this one. It's not a terrible movie for people that aren't big on the genre, but for us diehard Fu fans, I feel we were let down I'd give it a 6/10 and that's being generous.
