Why of course they do because they're in the showroom and in showroom mode.

No they don't. Torch mode is way too much contrast, way too much brightness, way too much saturation. It's inaccurate in every respect and in no way reflects either what's coming out of the control room (in the case of TV) or the director's intention (in the case of movies). It's like listening to classical music through a special effects generator.

But if that makes you happy, whatever. Different strokes for different folks. But the advantage of torch mode is if that's what you really like, you don't have to spend very much money on a TV because you can buy the suckiest one as long as it's bright.

After calibration, I keep it on Movie mode. Except for watching 3D. I then run it on Day Mode for a little more brightness

Just watched Girl with the dragon tattoo in movie mode of course...was spectacular. The opening sequence with the inky humanoid stuff was MADE FOR PLASMA!

Everyone run theirs in movie mode or do some of you run these LCD bright mode?
After calibration, I always run mine in "Custom Mode" with BDP set for YCbCr4:4:4 colour space and native BD resolution (1080/24P).

Is there something innate in 4K resolution that produces better contrast while set in the dynamic mode?
That's YOUR opinion. Avengers... Capt. America Winter Soldier look phenominal on Dynamic with the contrast and color pulled back a bit. It does NOT work for all films. I set it the way I like it. Set yours the way YOU like it.

Dynamic Mode is an incorrect preset for movies because movies are not suppose to look ultra radiant and vivid, as if they were made with a camcorder. Dynamic is the same as Torch Mode, a setting that is used when HDTVs are displayed at local electronic stores and other retailers to attract customers. It is higly recommended to get a HDTV properly calibrated, to get the optimal, accurate picture quality.

I agree that vivid mode is awful and an offense to HD viewers everywhere. But if someone wants to use vivid mode, or watch a color film in b&w, or with rose-colored lenses, well, so be it. Who cares? As long as I don't have to watch it that way it makes no difference to me.
