So will this be the actual camera negative and not the dubious "uncut and uncensored original camera negative" claim for their previous blu-ray, which Arrow bested.

That's what I'm thinking.

Arrow went back to the 2-perf Techniscope negative. The optical blow-up was scanned for the previous master that BU used then. You can class that as an archival master for Techniscope as it needed to be converted to standard 4-perf Scope for projection but it's never as good as going back to the OCN.

When the final result is Blu-ray, I'm also dubious about just how much difference a high quality 2K scan makes to a 4K one, especially with a format like Techniscope which is inherently grainier. We'll see soon I suppose, but I've got a feeling I won't need to upgrade.

Is there any possibility of new documentaries being added to this new release? That and a superior image quality would make this release worth buying. I hope they don't just recycle the extras from the dvd like they did with the blu ray release.

The Shriek Show 2-disc Special edition DVD of Zombie 2 included some nice extras that were exclusive to this release. Blue Underground should try to get these and include them on their new Blu Ray.

We need a good 4k remaster of The Beyond. I'm not happy with any of the blu-ray releases of that film.

I'd take a good 2k scan of it. For some reason every release of The Beyond has issues.

My Grindhouse copy looks quite nice despite a couple of flaws. Better yet lets release some films that haven't made it to blu yet instead of revisting films over and over again

Agreed all the current bd comes from the same master done back when the Italians were well known for having bad scanner noise on there masters. I think Arrow will be the ones to get it done.

Honestly for most B-movies I'm not too persnickety regarding picture quality. I think The Beyond is fine. I'll pick the Zombie remaster up, but if I already had it on blu-ray I wouldn't upgrade.

I still have that DVD. Bought it the same day I got the Criterion DVD of Videodrome.

The Grindhouse looks nice but has black clipping. My point is since they are going to re-relase a lot these titles with 4k scans anyways, why not revisit some that have problematic earlier releases?

I owned the Anchor Bay DVD of Zombi 2, the Blue Underground DVD, the Blue Underground Blu-ray and finally the Arrow Blu-ray.

I mean I obviously love this film but I'm done buying it over and over again. The Arrow Blu-ray, while not perfect, is a good enough presentation for me.

I'm kind of on the fence about some of these 4K remasters on Blu-ray. I've been disappointed a lot depending on who did the job.

Re-issues are a case by case scenario for me. Is the transfer worth the upgrade? Followed by does it have better special features? And then price, if it's a good price, I'll usually upgrade even for a minimal improvement for the right film (Fulci being one of them).

The rudeness is unnecessary, as is the mischaracterization of what I said.

being realistic about the PQ of a low budget film isn't the same as not caring. there is also the concept of good enough and i adhere to that as well. for some movies good enough is fine. not that i don't care it' s just not worth getting to excited over it at times.

I think what he meant was that these B movies are low budget, often shot on poor quality film stock, they’ve been missing for years, negatives are missing. Not that he doesn’t care about quality it’s about keeping your expectations in check. Not all of these movies will look amazing. Look at Hell Night, for example.

Or spoken like someone who already owns a version of it on BD, is happy with it & doesn't feel the need to double or triple dip. But hey, if you like buying the same movies over & over again go right ahead.
