Is it safe to say that if nothing's announced at Konami's showcase at TGS on Saturday it won't happen?

Also, I was thinking. A deal with Sony actually makes sense. With all the lockdowns and restrictions Konami might not make a ton of money selling slot machines right now.

Not necessarily, plenty of games get leaked long before any official word is made. There was gameplay of the new Hogwarts game online over a year ago and we only just saw trailer this year and it didn't even include the gameplay that was in the leaked footage from last year.

Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed then. But what would Konami show for an hour then? Awful mobile games? God, I hope not...

Imagine that. They have this huge MGS intro video first. Then this nerdy looking japanese guy tells everyone for 20 miuntes how amazing this upcoming announcement will be and that everyone has been waiting for this to happen. And then, finally, they announce MGS remake...

...the slot machine!

(and that wouldn't surprise me)

PES can be big money maker if they can get the quality back up to really rival Fifa.

A good Castlevania game would sell well, especially with the Netflix cartoon series helping keep the brand visible.

DDR probably still makes money and could be re-marketed as exercise while people are isolating during a pandemic if they get on out soon-ish.

Things like Contra and Bomberman can be decent money makers as they're lower budget games and don't have to sell a ton to make money.

They had the Yu-Gi-Oh license too, not sure if they still do. That could potentially be revitalized.

All that said, Konami would probably still want to much for what the profit potential of those IP are. It's not like the Zenimax/Bethesda purchase by MS where they're getting both IP and competent studies already making games. It would be a pure IP buy for someone to purchase Konami as they'd still have to either have their current studios use those IP or create new studies. So that impacts the profit potential negatively.

None of those are really franchises of value that I think Sony would care to pony up money for

Yeah pretty much. They are on gog.com. Metal gear solid is not the twin snakes updated version, which is fine by me, and Metal Gear Solid 2 is the substance version.

If it finally happens it would be pretty awesome. Don’t make bad Twin Snakes decisions. Just make it with better graphics, correct voices and I’m there. Afaik Bluepoint is on an original IP so I’m not sure what studio I’d want handling it.

Sony should just buy Konami if they can or acquire a slew of their IPs. MGS, Castlevania, Silent Hill and probably a bunch of others to be exploited.

Konami has become a joke. All they do now is sell overpriced merchandise of franchises they don't make games for anymore and pachinko machines.

I dont think they need to buy Konami because they really have no dev talent. Its better for Sony to just license IP rights from Konami and let their own dev studios make the games. Most of the dev talent Konami had probably left and went with Kojima to start Kojima Productions.

For brand new games telling new stories, I agree with you. But Kojima's involvement isn't needed for remakes, and especially not remasters. And that's all I want; for the old games to be brought back.

As a series, Metal Gear is finished as far as I'm concerned. Now I just want for the entire series to be made available on the current generation of consoles.

An MGS remake would be bad unless if Kojima was heading it. It's a short game for today's world.

I would love to get what was cut from MGSV. Goddamn does that game feel so abrupt at the end.

Moreso, I'd want a remake of MG1 and MG2. A lot of fans haven't played it yet and maybe won't cuz it's so old at this point.
