A good Castlevania game would sell well, especially with the Netflix cartoon series helping keep the brand visible. DDR probably still makes money and could be re-marketed as exercise while people are isolating during a pandemic if they get on out soon-ish. Things like Contra and Bomberman can be decent money makers as they're lower budget games and don't have to sell a ton to make money. They had the Yu-Gi-Oh license too, not sure if they still do. That could potentially be revitalized. All that said, Konami would probably still want to much for what the profit potential of those IP are. It's not like the Zenimax/Bethesda purchase by MS where they're getting both IP and competent studies already making games. It would be a pure IP buy for someone to purchase Konami as they'd still have to either have their current studios use those IP or create new studies. So that impacts the profit potential negatively. |
