Homecoming is the absolute easiest game to purchase still sealed. I guess that means something ha. It definitely took cues from the film which is good and bad, but the overuse of a pyramid head clone was kind of sad and the story failed to pack the punch of the previous titles. This is where Konami started randomly flailing this IP out to any developer willing to take a stab, and results were always interesting but hardly focused.

Origin was cool in a way as a psp game and prequel. But it was too repetitive with the information we already knew, and the new reveals were either not inventive enough or just didn't make sense with the established lore.

The PS2 game Shattered Memories is one of the last PS2 games that went into production, making this version a collectors item for multiple reasons. I barely beat this at the time, gameplay was super repetitive and I wasn't a fan of the mechanics at all. Might have been better on the Wii. But, once again, the soundtrack goes hard with a few great songs with vocals from series regular Elizabeth Mcglynn.

As an idiot in need of extra change back in 2012, I sold Origin, Shattered Memories, Homecoming. Downpour, as well as Rule of Rose and Kuon for mere pennies compared to what they go for now. Of course now I wish I had them all back. I won't sell anything Silent Hill at this point, there's always a certain charm to these games no matter what, and I wouldn't make that mistake again.

Eh, I wouldn't sell Homecoming (or Origin if I had it), but I sold Shattered Memories recently. That game is horrible, easily the worst Silent Hill game I ever played; I never understood why anyone would want it, unless you're just a hardcore Silent Hill fan that just wants anything with the name attached.

Honestly, anything after the first 4 games is second tier at best, with the worst being really dire. I wouldn't really care about anything else being re-issued, but I hope all of the first 4 games are made available in some way. Beyond that, probably better if Konami just focused on new Silent Hill titles.

Shattered Memories had good atmosphere, but the chase sections not sure how it's done on the ps2 and psp, but on the wii it's horrible. I think the game would've been better if they committed to a fully exploration horror game without "enemies".

but I have to say it looks pretty good for a Wii game

Hopefully F is a good Silent Hill game spin off.

For Silent Hill Homecoming, I would have completed it if not for a major, game breaking glitch where I got stuck in the sewer gates and couldn't back track for some reason. That was frustrating and poor game design. Glitches are sometimes expected, but have a save system that allows the gamer to by pass these things by having a reset checkpoint to clear any glitches so the code glitch doesn't break the game. That was a really tough game too. The dogs would maul the player in a few hits and game over.

Those chase sections are horrible on the PS2 as well. And yeah, they're the worst part of the game, immersion breaking, horrible to play, just an overall bad experience. The game still wouldn't have been great even without them, but it took a mediocre game and dragged it down to terrible.

I have the PS2 Silent Hill game where you're a trucker wearing a baseball cap and plaid shirt, and have to go into the burning house to save the person. That opening level was confusing and took me a few tries to figure out what the game wanted me to do. I think it was originally for PSP, then up converted to PS2. I finally got through it with persistence and entered the town.

That was Silent Hill Origins.

For me 1-3 are still the only ones worth playing (including SH2 remake). I so badly wanted to like The Room but I just didn't think it was very good. The Western games were even worse. If Silent Hill f turns out to be good, I'll eat my hat.

1 to 3 are the legit masterpieces. But depending on how hard you love the series it can expand beyond that. I was definitely let down by The Room at the time. It wasn't even going to be a Silent Hill game initially and that does make sense.

I still haven't played the remake. I'm sure I'll like it quite a bit, but I also wish we could get the originals playable on PS5 etc.

Believe it or not, I couldn't get a copy of The Room back in the day. My interest in it died after a while, and I never played it. Somehow though, I got a copy of its OST (along with 1-3's). The music and the few songs for the game are good.

I still don't get the connection to Silent Hill. And I'm not alone when I say that.

We basically have a 'Halloween 3' situation here. Great looking game. No real link to the established lore, though, yo!

But I hear RE9 will be different as well. So this must be some survival horror shake up that's going down with Capcom and so on.

I'm intrigued by the game, rather looking forward to it.

We can hold onto what we take Silent Hill to be or have been, but also embrace a new direction. Given that it's psychological horror, and called SH, I think it's way too early to determine how "Silent Hill"y it really is.

Apart from this and Townfall, there are also other unannounced SH games in development, including in-house by Konami under "The Silent Production Team".

Silent Hill Downpour was a bit repetitious with the enemies in town, and some very obscure puzzles I needed help to solve, but I still liked that game. The intro area where you hop onto the old mine-cart ride and the monsters are after the player was cool.

Yeah. RE4 has a section like that too. You have to quickly do a QTE when the cart reaches the end of the track.

Less like George Romero. More Harrison Ford.

I'm just gonna kick back until a release date is revealed.

They did say more transmissions are planned.

I could have done with fewer side quests required for platinum tbh.

I’d love for Silent Hill F to be something like a game version of the movie Audition

But seriously, how’s it related to Silent Hill 1 and 2 ?

The game most likely isn't very relatable to the other games beyond having a creepy atmosphere, and monsters. But I do think this game is really just like the Cloverfield movies, in that the only real link is the name. Or if there are any references, only genuine fans will be able to spot what they are.

Probably just have to wait for the game to come out. Or a deeper trailer, lol. At this rate I'm hoping for winter 2026.

We don't need the games to relate back to each other, just to connect to the actual town in some way. This remains to be revealed, but it's possible it could connect in some way to some of the original settlers or even certain angels and demons that were mentioned in the first game. Just some speculation.
