I say modest becuase I haven't really spent a whole lot of money on this system. My NHT speakers were purchased back in 1997 and still sound great to this day. They are the only items I haven't replaced. I just recently replace my entire rack system with this Sony STRDG-1000. My previous system included a Kenwood VR-8070 with three THX certified Kenwood KM-X1000 amps. I was a huge Kenwood fan for a while and that system sounded great but I wanted to have HDMI swtching. I ended up selling all of the above on Ebay and purchasing my new receiver and the PS3 with the money. I did put money out for a new Sub and TV though

It been a while since I heard them but I always liked NHT speakers. And I second the stand, I like it too. Though I think I would not leave the PS3 on top of a speaker due to vibrations.

Grrrr, another one bites the dust

Unfortunately they seem to only manufacture for the local market in North America. Have sent them an email, but don’t hold up much hope.

Thanks ebanks for the link however. Back to scanning this thread.

I may just end up keeping the stand after all.

I don't think the PS3 is getting much of a vibration from the center channel. I had to place it there because it was getting way too hot enclosed on the shelves. I tried placing it to the right or left but it just didn't look right to me.

Alright, I'll chime in with flawed (and fairly unique) HDMI-challenged HT system:

Sharp 10K HD2 DLP 720p FP
Stewart Firehawk 110" screen (drop-down)
LG BH100 Dual Format HD player
Toshiba HD-A2 $98 special (backup only)
Simmetry AVP Universal player (currently used only for multichannel SACD/DVDA, DVD-V playback has been retired)
Sony SCD777ES SACD/CD player (2-channel music)
Vienna Acoustic Mahlers (fronts/rears)
Vienna Acoustic Oratorio (center)
Revel B15 subwoofer (trying to get 2nd used pair)
Proceed AVP (used only for DD/DTS decoding (coax/optical inputs only)
Meitner Switchman 2 Multichannel analog preamp/switcher (switches MC SACD/DVD-A, LG 5.1 TrueHD/PCM audio output and Proceed DD/DTS 5.1 audio output)
Dodd battery-powered tubed preamp (2-channel music only)
Classe CA-400 (front amp) (400W/8 ohms, 800W/4 ohms)
Classe CA-300 (rear amp)
Classe CA-200 (bridged for center speaker)
Sound Applications Reference Linestage Power conditioner (currently auditioning "matching" Elrod EPS-3 signature power cord).
Kimber Select Interconnects/speaker cables for Main speakers
Various spaghetti network of lesser cables for everything else.
Various power cords: Kimber Select Palladium PK10, several Silent Source cables, I forget what else.
Tara Labs "budget" (?) Component cable (50ft)
RAM Electronic DVI cable (50 ft)

Hack away !

Whoops. Forgot to mention my HT room is both camera and aesthetically-challenged.... The room originally was a 2-car garage converted to a Den; I subsequently added a unhandyman-built stage for 2-row seating and blocked all the windows off with homemade panels and curtains for decent light control. I still need to add front curtains to block off the unsightly utility room door, bathroom door, secondary convergence-challenged 48" TV sitting on top of concrete blocks (to get it above the center channel), shelves, open rack for electronics, etc....

After seeing the great feedback and nice pictures of what people are enjoying their Blu-ray on, I had to add a few pix of my own. Great Thread!

Enjoy and good luck!

I noticed Wolfgang had a stack of blu-rays. Guess you need it when watching a 23 foot wide screen.

Mine is relatively modest as well, but I do have 1080p and DTS-MA!!!

I get giddy every time I see the DTS-MA light come on, I just can't help it
