Me: "Why not the one that does the 24p properly?"

Him: "good point"

Anyways, nice to see it in stores.
Great news!!!! I can't wait to see some reviews on this.
Get on those idiots - they should totally have the Blu-ray on the -800U.
Next time I come across the border for some Rock Band, let's go hassle them.

for sure!

Now that these are in store - it would be nice to see Panasonic acknowledge this model exists and put it on their website.

I dont know enough about it to care, but if you have a 50" 85u that could do 24p properly running next to a 50" 85u that could not, would you notice?

I doubt I'll ever get to see that comparison since the 85u cannot do it - but yeah, I think anyone would see the difference.

If there is a difference then, Id have to wonder if its worth the dough. I can tell you that the 85u is pretty awesome, so noone should be unhappy with an 800 or 850.

I've seen and since stores do ugly display of hdtvs it lacked HD which suppose to be eye candy and jump off the screen

I posted this in another thread here too:

We've got a great 85u calibration thread going at AVS right now.

These settings will yield about the best PQ on this tv you can get without a professional and you can use them on break-in(except Picture, keep it around 50)

Cinema(Standard and Normal are brighter BUT noisier)
Warm(standards ok if you like it better, but warm is more accurate)
Picture 60-85(doesnt change it a lot, but Im 80 because I like mine brighter) Over 90 is too high
Brightness 52
Color 40-44(whatever you preference)
Tint +3 to -3
Sharp 50
Hd size 2
all NR off and Black Level on light

The DVE Bluray is great.

Mainly avoid letterboxing and tickers for the 100 hours.

Soon come - it's already down to $2699 from some sellers.
By the end of July it should be down to $2400 on Amazon.

Those shots make me laugh.
First of all, there's no mention of which models are being used from Samsung and Panasonic; is it a 77 model, 700, 85? What?
Secondly, who calibrated the displays?
Thirdly, in defence of the Samsung LED, the smart dimming is OBVIOUSLY not on otherwise it would handle that shot better than the Sony LCD.

It's propaganda, short and sweet.

No doubt the 2nd generation KURO's will be awesome, but this photo is absolutely rubbish to use as a comparison.

If these six sets were all ISF calibrated it would be a different story, but as this is Pioneer's display showcase, that's highly unlikely.

I dont doubt that it may not be fair, but I dont think they made the panny look pretty good on purpose. Panny's always been #2 behind Pioneer for plasma blacks.

I might have to eek a bit more budget out for one of these.. noticing the price on the 50" being kinda generous... will have to wait it out a bit longer for a price drop...

The TV they had there wasn't calibrated at all and looked like shit. When i was looking at it some BB employee tried to get me to buy the 700 they had fully calibrated, i just laughed and walked away.
