USA Cancellations

Sad news. USA has confirmed that Common Law, Political Animals and Fairly Legal has been cancelled:

Fairly Legal: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/1...?utm_hp_ref=tv

Political Animals: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/1...?utm_hp_ref=tv

Common Law: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/1...?utm_hp_ref=tv

Fairly Legal has been cancelled with Season 2. Apparently, the ratings simply weren't there and that they had dropped to 2.5 million viewers during the second season. However, Sarah Shahi has been signed on to Chicago Fire.

I liked the 1st season of Fairly Legal but they went in a little diffrent direction with season two and I dropped it after two episodes.

Looking forward to seeing her on Chicago Fire its a very good show but it may not make as well.

Yeah. I enjoyed the first season as well. I just didn't care for her "partner" from season 2. Fairly Legal simply took on a different approach to courtroom dramas and it was a very enjoyable series. Going to miss that series, along with Sarah Shahi.

That sucks. I actually really enjoyed both Fairly Legal and Common Law. I have no interest in Chicago Fire, so it was nice watching Sarah Shahi for two seasons.

I know I have said this about every network that has done this with shows, but how could they expect either to do any good if they tossed them both on Friday? Even worse, they delayed the premiere for Common Law for months not that long before it was supposed to originally start. Granted they still did pretty poor on Fridays, but putting shows there still never helps, especially when Common Law was new and heavily promoted before they decided to delay it.

As much as I like USA, they have been making some really puzzling decisions this year. Staggering schedules by having one show a night starting earlier than the other so a show is without it's lead-in for an extended period (Covert Affairs), running established shows straight through (Royal Pains), and having a movie for a show after the season is already over (also Royal Pains).

I just never cared too much for USA's TV shows that tried to turn serious drama into comedy sitcoms. Shows like Monk and Common just tried too hard to merge sitcoms with procedural dramas.

Not saying you had to like Common Law, but not every procedural drama needs to be serious all of the time. It was actually a breath of fresh air to me.

I am going to miss Fairly Legal, I still hope season 2 makes it to DVD... and I can dream about the BD for both seasons, right?

I actually enjoyed both of these shows somewhat. I won't miss them, but they are both better than REVOLUTION.

Golden, most definitely better than Revolution. But, at least Shawn Ryan is being given ample time to finish the series with 13 episodes and that we'll have a conclusion to the series instead of a stupid cliffhanger. I remember that FUBAR over Missing. I was pissed about the ending, considering that the series had been canceled. They couldn't produced an alternate ending for the DVD release.

What makes you think he can "finish" his series considering he only has so many episodes left that I imagine are already filmed. If anything, it will end on some kind of already planned/shot cliffhanger much like FLASHFORWARD, V and plenty of other shows that pretty much knew they were dead.

And like I said, these shows were watchable, but nothing worth losing any sleep over that it won't remain on tv as each are nothing memorable. I like the two leads in LAST RESORT, but the rest of the people outside of an underused Robert Patrick are basically boring filler stories. I do think Autumn Reeser is just an adorable/gorgeous woman that I will miss.

Shawn Ryan has already said to expect an ending to the series. Apparently, you didn't read the latest responses in "The Last Resort' topic in Television:

Given the story, I was wrong to initially think it wasn't possible. It was a good show could have went on for at least a couple more seasons just fine, but the story itself is rather simple enough that it could all be revealed pretty easily.

U can only base a story on a stand-off for so long. Most tv viewers prefer quick resolution and a new story each week. Those type shows traditionally do better than arc shows because the average viewer doesnt want to invest in the show.

As when ever one of the shows I like gets canceled, it's time to pull out the soap box. Whether the Neilson system actually works to determine fair pricing for ad space or not, the system is patently insulting.

Final broadcast primetime ratings for Thursday,November 15, 2012:
Time Net Show 18-49 rating/Sh Viewers (Millions)
8:00 CBS The Big Bang Theory 5.7/17 17.63
FOX The X Factor 2.4/7 7.47
CW Vampire Diaries 1.3/4 2.84
ABC Last Resort 1.2/4 5.68
NBC 30 Rock 1.2/4 3.34

As VD, LR & 30 Rock have pretty much the same demo, the fact that LR has over 2 million more viewers than either of the others mean absolutely nothing. Neilson doesnt care about u and neither do the advertisers. U might as well not exist. Obviously those 2 million Americans never buy anything. They never shop, they never eat and they dont contribute to the economy in any meaningful way. Happy holidays, Neilson from a non existent American.

kernel, I would have have to agree. But, at least we'll, hopefully, get a satisfactory ending. He's definitely got enough episodes to pull it off. But, I also do agree with everyone here, that he needs to act fast to resolve the current plots and subplots. With several episodes left to go, depending on how many are already finished. he's definitely going to have to move fast on resolving the series.

I'm very sad about 666 Park Avenue. I'm not a TV series junkie, so there are plenty other good series which I haven't checked yet, but I liked this one. I was more anxious to see this than either American Horror Story or Once Upon a Time (the 2 other series I currently follow).

I guess I should check either Breaking Bad, Homeland, 30 Season Rock, Arrow, Revolution, Boardwalk Empire, Walking Dead, Entourage or Revenge out

I can't comment on Entourage or 30 Rock (30 Season Rock?? ) since I've never seen a whole episode of either, but all of the other shows you mentioned are pretty good shows.
