Hello, Cinelicious. I just found this thread while searching for any news about The Mend on Blu-Ray. It's one of my favorite films of the past several years and I desperately want to own it on Blu-Ray. Can you provide any info about when it will be released?

Sorry, no planned blu-ray release of THE MEND on the horizon. It's available for streaming or digital download though. Just click the blue "on demand" button here.

The guys went above and beyond with the design of this release. PRIVATE PROPERTY is going to be a great looking release.

I've been researching old Seattle movie theater ads. PRIVATE PROPERTY played for one week as a main feature in July of 1960, with SCHOOL FOR LOVE (Brigitte Bardot) as the co-feature. This engagement occurred at one of Seattle's downtown luxury movie palaces, but admission was forbidden to those under 21.

PRIVATE PROPERTY then reappeared for one week in the first week of January, 1961, as the co-feature to EXPRESSO BONGO, at a smaller downtown theater.

Very mixed emotions after having just watched Belladonna of Sadness. Absolutely beautiful blu-ray presentation and some fairly interesting things going on thematically in the film, but after all the hype I was surprised to find the animation so generic. Despite the (very well written) booklet liner notes referencing Dore, George Grosz and Crespax, the look didn't seem particularly original or, for me at least, memorable.

Name another movie you think you've seen use that style of animation

Don't really want to drag this out, but just to clarify: the faces (and, to a lesser extent, figures) in Belladonna often reminded me less of images from other films and more of numerous generically "groovy" magazine illustrations from the early '70s.
That's all I really want to say about it, though, and sorry if I'm ruffling any feathers. It's ultimately just a matter of taste.

My problem is more with the style of drawing than with the animation, if that makes sense. I have no problem at all with the curiously static quality of the animation or the watercolor background work or the basic design sense (which is frequently quite interesting and imaginative), but the basic quality of the draftsmanship -- primarily faces of the characters, both major and minor, which are so central to the film -- doesn't really exhibit much personality or flair.

I just posted this in the PRIVATE PROPERTY thread. Amazon now specifies a street date of October 25th for PP, which is two weeks later than the original street date of October 11th. Has anyone heard anything about this?

Sorry gang the blu-ray/dvd release of Private Property has been delayed. Our printer had some sort of issue and didn't let us know. We just found out today ourselves. Amazon has just received the discs and have confirmed with us that they will begin shipping on November 8th. It will be worth the wait!

Default Funeral Parade of Roses - FIRST LOOK

Something AMAZING to leave you before the weekend. Just looked at the new 4K scans for our upcoming restoration and release of FUNERAL PARADE OF ROSES and they look STUNNING! Check it out...

Like a time machine back to 1969 Tokyo. Wow.

Much like our BELLADONNA OF SADNESS and PRIVATE PROPERTY releases, I've setup a tumblr account that I'll be sharing lots of images at for this release as well.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Although I'm completely unfamiliar with this film, it does look interesting.

I watched Private Property the other day and quite enjoyed it. The PQ was great and this rare Noir will be a great addition to my collection. I've read that it played in a double bill with another cult film, Who Killed Teddy Bear?(1965) at a revival house. Any chance Cinelicious got their hands on this cult film starring Sal Mineo, Juliet Prowse, and Elaine Stritch?
