Cool Ever Scratched A Blu-ray Disc To Date?!?!

Hey all,

Here's an interesting idea for a thread! Ever scratched a Blu-ray to date? I swear, since I've gotten into picking up New and Used PS3 Games and Blu-ray movies -- I have yet to see a scratch on any of them. Only seen fingerprints really...

How the mileage on your colllection? Ever see a scratch?!?!

I'm pretty anal with my blu's. Nor have I lent them out. So mine are intact as Tutankhamen's tomb. A few I picked up on here(used) had some fingerprints but never had an scratches.

210 blu-rays, no scratches at all. Guess they're not as weak as DVD lovers think they are.

Blu-ray discs have a clear hardcoat on the playback side of the disc which does an amazing job of increasing durability over DVD and CD discs. Although some have claimed it being enough to be impervious to a screwdriver scratched against it, I will not test the theory. The clear layer is a polymer less than 0.1mm thick.

I have new and used BDs - not one scratch on them. Despite the protective coating, I still handle them with great care.

I had to return my first copy of Taken because there was a 1/2" scratch that could be felt with my fingernail. I didn't even try to play it to see what happened - I returned it immediately so Best Buy wouldn't accuse me of doing it myself for some reason. But that's the only one.

All my Blu-rays have zero scratches as well. I have never scratched any of my Blus, and I never will!

Myself as well. The most extreme test I've heard for blu-rays is some guy actually rubbing a disc with steel wool and then trying to play it.

I do not let others touch the discs so there are no fingerprints let alone scratches. I invested too much time and money to let other handle my discs.

Even the ones I buy used are scratch free. I guess they have to be because they told me they cant resurface them on their machine.

All others, are 100% scratch free.

All of mine are scratch free. I've only bought two used and only one of them even has a mark on it. Like others have said, even though they have the protective coating, I am still very careful with my collection.

Other than a couple of fingerprints on a few used blus I bought, nothing. I'm very careful with my stuff (everything Blus, DVDs, CDs, Games.. heck even graphic novels) and I rarely lend out my stuff so it all stays in great condition.

Also, I work in a video rental store and I always check the Blus and am shocked how great they hold up although there have been a few that were pretty banged up. Compare to DVDs which we lose at least three copies of in the first couple weeks to scratchs; we have not lost one Blu-ray to damage yet!

I did that the other day with The Bourne Identity, it also hit a few shelves on its way down, but not a single scratch was found.

I work at Blockbuster. I've seen 2-3 discs scratched very deeply, but they were purposefully abused, so it doesn't really count. We love that we don't have to throw the discs out simply because they will no longer play!
