Default Best Buy supporting Blu-ray?

I dont know if any one has posted this, but I just got done watching a segment on the news and it looks like there are more problems for HDDVD. Apparently Best Buy is going to support blu ray, I only caught the end of the segment but that was what I saw at the bottom of the screen. Some guy came on and was saying HDDVD is better because it has online capabilitiess while bluray does not. So blu ray is destined to fail long term. I looked online and I dont see anything about the Best Buy claim.

Well my computer is crap. If someone would go to CNBC.com and type in blu-ray in the search bar. Then look at the right hand side, look for DVD WARS, this may be the story or it might not.

Well if that is the case then they need to lower their prices to be more competative with e-tailers. Also if they end up doing just that I would be thrilled since there is nowhere I can buy them at a B&M for anything less than 15% over what they are online.

Are you sure they just didn't see this in regards to Blockbuster...

http://www.cnbc.com/id/15840232?video=383736735&play=1

Warren is doing the talk for HD DVD, and let's just say he was spewing the same old FUD, saying Blu-ray didn't have online capability.

I didn't find any articles on Best Buy. There were, however at least a half dozen on the BlockBuster Video story. The DVD WARS clip pre-dates the hacking of the last encryption method, so it's not the correct story.
But I sure would enjoy it if this news was confirmed!

I have seen alot of people typing BB (Blockbuster) which could easily be mistaken for Best Buy as well...this could be part of it. Either way its awesome that Blockbuster is BD only

The video you saw was about Blockbuster, not Best Buy. It's up on the site, and yes, the very last thing is about internet connectivity. The video is kinda funny. The HD DVD group just cannot accept the PS3 as a legitimate Blu-ray player.

HD-DVD Players are required to have an ethernet port for updates. It's option for BD Players.

The guy said HDDVD "mandates" it, while Bluray does not so in the long run it will not succeed.

How many people are going to have ethernet connections to their home theatre systems? Realistically, a minority, so this is really a red herring.

The player that shines in this regard is of course the PS3 with wireless internet. Not available on any Toshiba!

Besides, BD 1.1 players with ethernet should be here in the fall.

Best Buy is neutral on the format war... They have endcaps set up for both HD-Dvd and BluRay
