War of the worlds? - Blu-ray Forum

I just wanted to know if anyone has any idea's or any information on the war of the worlds Blu-ray. I was watching my DVD copy and discovered it had some awesome SQ, mainly becasue i have my new sub and wow. Anyway, I just watned to know if anyone had any info. i checked the movie section on releases and didn't find anything on release date. Is anyone else wondering about that or am I the only one. I think it would be in whoever interist to rerelease it on Blu. Just my 2 cents anyway.

Spielberg is extremely careful about his releases, so I'm guessing a couple more years maybe.

No word on this title yet. Or Minority Report, Jurassic Park Trilogy, Jaws, etc.

nothing this year-- it appears that all of the MAJOR announcements for
2009 are already over--

I would think Spielberg might release a couple movies in 2010......
which ones are anybodies guess

they will probably do what they did for The Day the Earth Stood Still, and release both together. They would be stupid if they didn't do that. On another note, I thought I read there was talk of UK Jurassic Park release? Actually read something along those lines on this very site a couple months back.

I hope this comes out on Blu this year. I agree, the sound quality of the dts track on the dvd was amazing. Should be even more phenomenal with a lossless track on Blu ray.

I hope not, if they do that I won't be getting it. I only want to original on BD, not interested at all in the remake

Um, no. We still have up until September or so for big Q4 releases to be announced. It's only June.

So I suspect a slew of great new titles and catalog favorites are still to be announced for the end of the year. Not "War of The Worlds", necessarily, but I bet there are some surprises coming...

I'm waiting for this one as well. Can't wait. This is a long shot, but maybe Spielberg will release a director's edition to go along with this, and they'll put it in a special edition set like Close Encounters. That would be flippin' sweet! I always felt that there was something missing from this otherwise amazing film.

The audio on this film is frigging awesome on the DVD. I can't wait for a blu ray release, so long as they don't DNR it (was a very intentionally grainy film)

That is the exact reason why I want it on Blu. I thought for a DVD the audio was phenominal. I'm thinking man if the SQ was that good, imagine the SQ on Blu with a higher SQ. Glad to see others in the same boat as me. And I personally thought that the remake was great. IMO.

I'm hoping Paramount/Dreamworks release it soon! It has been a favorite demo DVD for a few years. I can't wait to hear it in lossless and see it in 1080p! It's a fun movie to
