Oh sweet mother, I have been hanging out for this.

I just hope they don't ruin it with DNR. It was intentionally a very grainy film (bleach bypass)

I've been waiting for this but I won't buy it in its first week of release, I'd like to wait and see what feedback it gets for quality. So it might well be a week two purchase for me. The film wasn't brilliant, but it was enjoyable enough to own on DVD and should be a real treat on Blu-ray.

Day one for me. It's my second favorite Spielberg film after Jaws

It's nice to see more Spielberg stuff finally arriving. Minority Report now confirmed too (though far from a favourite), and Saving Private Ryan rumoured.

More a Lucas title but Indiana Jones Trilogy also heading our way this year, and hopefully we might see Jurassic Park too, in any event I'd expect to see much more from Spielberg on Blu Ray over the next couple of years.

This and Minority report (also due this year) are both day 1 purchases for me. Haven't seen either for a while as well so looking forward to the BD's even more!

I quite liked this but it has £8 written all over it.

I'll wait.

So what are the chances of this being region-free? Paramount's gotten a bit weird about that lately, yes? This is the first time I've been willing to import just based on cover art--the UK art murders the U.S.'s--but I won't bother if my PS3 can't handle it.

Since there's no censor mark on that yet that's not necessarily going to be the final artwork. Tom Cruise does have a big head and it's suited to DVD/Bluray bighead artwork.

The US/Canada set is being listed as multiregion so can't see why the UK would be different.

Anyone know if this'll be the same transfer as the US one for sure?

Same studio, why wouldn't it be? What I want to know is whether the UK cover will be the Earth-in-the-palm-of-an-alien art or the Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning "floating heads" style of the U.S. release. Different UK vendors show different covers...

Most likely:

As it has the BBFC rating logo's on it, and also thats the one listed on both HMV and Play.com, where as before they both had the other one with the hand holding the earth.

Oh ok, I think I was just confused that maybe the UK one would have 2 discs, but I think that was just indicated on the earlier artwork.

Yeah, i just noticed that it doesnt say 2-disc anywhere on the front of the newer cover art.

That kinda sucks, as going by the earlier one like you said it did say it was a 2-disc edition.

Whoever gets there copy first please let us know what artwork is on the case. The earth in the palm of the hand looks pretty cool.
