Default Are prices getting better?

Blu-ray prices are coming down. Right?

Just went through the Top Blu-ray Deals on this site. 424 discs are 14.99 or lower. I know a lot is complete crap, but not all of it is. This is great for helping Blu-ray get into everyone's house.

I bought a few SACDs (glad I didn't buy more) and one of the reasons they failed to catch on was, price. I hope Blu-ray doesn't follow SACDs.

Since Blu-rays are as cheap as DVDs or just 3 -5 dollars more they are more acceptable to more consumers. I think I even saw some new releases that were cheaper than the DVDs. Can't remember. Anyway, this is great to see that prices are getting lower.

I think prices right now sucks.
New releases (and some catalogue releases like A Bug's Life) for 28-30 usd.

I would have thought prices would have gone done by now.
It surely is one of the reason why the format adopts slowely.

Prices on older catalogue titles seem to be down, aa lot of $14.99 blu rays at Best buy & JandR but new titles are still too expensive to buy in stores. I only buy new titles from amazon and only after they've dropped in price a bit.

There is nothing wrong with the current prices. Despite the complaints...they really are not high.

New releases and popular movies are still expensive, like Iron Man.

Iron Maiden: Flight 666 was 14.99 for the Blu and 11.99 for the DVD. That's a fair difference.

Prices are still up there but I have learned not to buy a title on release day because you can usually get it on sale a few weeks later.

but i guess that's just amazon so i get your point...if someone were to walk into a best buy or something it would probably be like 29.99..

I dont think any catalog title should be priced more then $10-$14.99 because most catalog titles are double dips for me. New Releases, screw the digital copy price dont neeed it so give me a new blu for $19.99-$24.99 and if its a 2 disc (blu + dvd) $29.99. I think with the drops in prices with the TV's and blu-ray players over the last year making the movies more affordable well help get this technology into the average consumer home. Not just movie buffs and HT guys like us.

That reminds me... I still need to pick this one up. I think prices are slowly coming as blu becomes and more popular.

It depends on weekly sale ads.

I refuse to buy a new BD for $29.99.

You need to shop around.

For example this week, I wanted to buy Spaceballs. Amazon.ca as it for $26 yet if I go to Future Shop it's $19.99.

I still get many BD at higher prices in anime from Amazon.ca because well there is very little options here for getting them. They are not found in Wall-Mart or Future Shop. There is one store who as anime but those are usualy DVD at very high prices.

Prices are ok if you know how to shop. The only prices I ever pay for retail is Disney releases. They never seem to go on sale unless you live in the States and go to ToysRUs for Bugs Life.

As long as you check your ads, and pay attention to sales, you can pick up most of the titles you need for cheap.

I'm actually pretty content for the catalog titles. Seems you can get many at retail for around $15 if you are patient. I'd still like to see the list drop to about $25/$20.

New releases are still much too expensive. I think a new release should top at $34.95.

Yeah, $28-$30 is too high for many people. New releases should stay under $25. Catalog titles should be under $20.

But if you're patient and shop around, you can find deals.

Catalog titles are getting better, although I'd prefer to see more in the $14.99 range.

New releases and Disney catalog titles need to go down about $5-10.

Amazon.com year round.
Fry's during Christmas vacation. I go into BestBuy but never get anything, too pricey.

Sometimes I buy at stores in Taipei, but I have to pay around 30 dollars US for a movie (they have Mandarin subtitles for wife, so it's okay). One shop will give me 10% off if I buy 5 or 6 at a time.

When I saw T2-Skynet Edition at $14.99 a couple months after its release, I can't help but think prices are getting lower, which is great. Just wish more US releases had Chines subtitles.
