Default more ram for ps3

i recently bought a ps3 and 6gb of the new dr3 ram to replace the 256 ram it normally comes with
i opened up the ps3 (was a little tough but i did eventually get it open)
now i dont know what to do, does it go on the top side or the bottom
theres no slot on either side for the ram, not even one so i could at least upgrade to 2gb
did sony use very old technology on the ps3? or am i discovering some new technology sony made on the ps3
if someone wants to do this for me ill gladly pay

I don't think it is possible to change the RAM. Did someone tell you this was a possibility?

On the otherhand, you can upgrade your hard drive.
