Pioneer 9g plasmas!

I have the Pioneer pro 111fd and I love it! I have been playing around with the picture modes for about a month now and have passed over 200 hours of usage. I'm finding myself liking the isf modes sometime, but when switching to the Optimum mode, It just blows the isf settings away depending on content. "Like BARAKA" Is anybody else seeing this on these displays?
These TV's are dope because they look better and better the more you put hours on them!!

You bought control cal? i think the ISF modes, day and night, are actually suppose to look better than any other setting.

Yea, I got Control Cal! And the isf modes do look good until you pop in something like Baraka and then Optimum mode blows it away....

I am dying to get Control Cal but I am afraid to mess it all up since I am not savvy at these things...

Is it easy and do they come with game mode settings as well

I was the same about Control Cal but it was easy as F---! isf day, night, and Auto work into the other settings.

Just curious. Do you just put controlcal on your pc then hook it up to your monitor? I really havent looked into this program yet.

I agree with you 100% I know pure and the isf settings are the best, and for some movies Like Benjamin Button they make the movie look stunning. I prefer optimum as well cause they make the picture pop and unlike lcds the black levels remain dark and you get this amazing 3D like effect. Some people hate optimum mode, because it torches the image, but I could care less what a movie should look like, it's what looks good to me and my family that matters. To each his own this Tv is just an amazing tv, and will give you the best picture no matter what settings you choose

Before I brought my elite last year I usually watched everything on a vivid mode.After I broke the panel in, I figured I might as well give pure mode a try.I really had to force myself not to change it the first couple of days because compared to perfomance or optimum mode pure was really dull looking.I can say after a week I was totally use to it and pure was the only mode I used.That is until I got ControlCal and activated the ISF modes and now ISF day/night are the only modes I use.My kids are even use to it now(they are watching Pinocchio as we speak in isf day).I would tell anyone to give the ISF modes a try atleast for a week to see if you can become accustom to them.If not it's your panel,enjoy it anyway you like.

What I can't figure out is, if I was to use controlcal wouldn't I need the proper tools to calibrate it? Don't the pros use a eye they attach to your tv and use the lighting in your home that will tell what settings to use?

Are most of you just eying all your settings or using other settings that have been posted? Wouldn't it be better to have someone come to your home and calibrate it for it's natural settings?

A professional calibration would be the best, but ControlCal does allow you to make adjustments using offsets provided by D-Nice that improve the picture. I don't have the money right now for a pro calibration, so using ControlCal and D-Nice's offsets my picture improved quite a bit. Whites are now much whiter. Before using the offsets whites appeared more yellow.

To add to what SumSuperman is suggesting: I used ControlCal to configure the ISF Day/Night settings in my Kuro 111-FD and it made an improvement over the standard options. Next, I had my Kuro calibrated by one of the country's best ISF calibrators. The Pro-ISF calibration resulted in a huge improvement in my display. DNICE's settings are close, but no cigar.

DNICE does provide a very good service.

I DISAGREE 200% My 111FD has been PROFESSIONALLY calibrated & the ISF modes are the best looking period!
