Saw this in the cinema last Sunday here in the UK. Despite some decent bits here and there, it's generally a complete mess. Cory Yuen's choreography can barely be seen for all the editing/camera angle choices/post-production processing, the CG work is stunningly bad, and the attempt to open up the plot from the original 45 minute anime seems intriguing, then collapses in a welter of join-the-dots plotting and appeal-to-a-US-audience modifications. Worse still, the cast is full of Brits playing Americans with not much success. Even a longer cut could not save it - it's the worst film I've ever seen from director Chris Nahon, and I now heartily wish Ronny Yu had been kept on as director.

wow already O_o
I love this movie man! Can't wait for it on Blu-Ray. Why is Onigen's name in the casting, she rarely had a role:/ It should be the American girl that should be next to Gianna's name. I love this movie man, if you compare it to Wolverine's Origin, Wolverine is a piece of trash! 108 mins, fully of trash talking! No blood no Gore. Whereas Blood Da Last Vampire 88min, Action farking Packed! Blood n Gore! Resident Evil man FTW! Although two things I was disappointed about, they used the military base again:/ And the fight scene with hordes of blood suckers, they sort of wasted half of the fight scene. Because of the camera works, it was zoomed too much:/ Can't wait for this sh* man ![]() |

Simple. Koyuki is a well known Japanese actress and having her name/image on the Japanese version will help sell a few more copies. It is the same reason Hiroyuki Sanada's character in Sunshine was put in the front of the Japanese version while every other version has Cillian Murphy in the Front.

The US will probably use MPEG-4 AVC like the Japanese version. US Version will either use English DTS-HD MA or TrueHD (I am not sure if this was a newly pressed title or an older one) but probably won't have the Japanese track or subtitles. Haven't seen anything about any supplements on the Japanese version while the US has some. Overall, I doubt there will be an drastic differences. It will come down to if you need the Japanese audio/subtitles or not.

I liked the movie. It was about what I expected it to be. I'll buy it when I can find it for under $20, for no other reason than to watch Jun Ji-hyun fighting with a sword again. I know, I know... Sometimes I'm a simple man to please. Although to be honest I'd rather be getting My Sassy Girl, Windstruck or Daisy on BD.
