Default Audioholics: First Look at the new Pioneer Elite receivers

http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/r...sx-21txh-23txh

Quote:
Pioneer is making four new additions to their Elite receivers with the introduction of the SC-27, SC-25, VSX-23TXH, and VSX-21TXH. With such features as ICEPower amplification, Internet streaming, iPhone control, and lots more, Pioneer is looking to entice you to upgrade whether you are ready to or not. With prices ranging from $700 to $2000, there certainly is something for everyone in this new group of offerings from Pioneer.
Some pretty SCHWEET looking offerings here. Click on the link for the full preview!

Quote:
The Pioneer Elite VSX-21TXH and VSX-23TXH will begin shipping in July 2009 for the suggested retail prices of $700 and $900, respectively. Pioneer’s Elite SC-25TXH and SC-27 are shipping in August 2009 with the suggested retail prices of $1700 and $2000, respectively.

And to think I was pulling the trigger next Friday on the SC-05.... maybe still if there is a nice deal I come across.

But I'd love to get this years model instead now. iPhone integration is nice.

I noticed these on Pioneer's site yesterday. That was a nice little write-up, but I'm anxious to see some thorough in-depth tests/reviews on the new models.

Engadget has some more stuff on them.

I'm sure these have been improved over last year's. Also, they have dropped the price as well, which is always welcomed.

Also, the SC-25 is now 140w per channel too.

I'll be grabbing up one of these when they come out.

Hmmm these are tempting, but I'm waiting to see if Onkyo will announce the 707, 807, and 877, any time soon. With the upgrade they did to the 600 series this year, I have high hopes for the 700 and 800 series.

I know the Pio Elite flagship model is the SC-09TX, but is that also a model from last year? Any idea if there's a new model coming to replace it any time soon, or is it still too new?

The new Pioneer Elite receivers will have a few better features and a slightly lower MSRP than current Elites once had - a great move on Pio's part!

For now, the clearance price difference on the current Elite series SC-05 and SC-07 still make them the hottest deals around, and worth buying into if you are looking for a significant upgrade from an entry-level receiver - at far less than half the cost of the new Elites. But, they're going like hotcakes so act fast if you're short on the cash for one of the new Elite models.

Agreed, the SC-07 for $1,000 is an absolute steal.

No kidding, I got the 3 year warranty from 6th Ave thrown in for my SC-05, and I only paid a total of $770!

All the credit should go to "got rice" as he hooked me up on how to swing this deal. I bought mine 3 weeks ago and couldn't be happier!

I think this is you (I could be wrong), but didn't you get an offer for the SC-07 for only $60 more becuase of the problem with the SC-05 and them being out of the SC-05's?

I could be wrong, but as I understand it, they would all be superior to the 1019, which isn't an elite model. Even though the 1019 may have slightly more power than the new VSX-01 and 03 (10 wpc, on paper) I would think the upgraded feature set would make them both superior to the 1019. And of course the SC-25 and 27 would be way beyond the 1019.

Damn, that SC-27 is nice, and very tempting. Hopefully I'll be patient enough to wait and see what Onkyo announces, if anything. Though I could probably swing a deal somewhere on the SC-27, depending on launch price (Which I've heard is around $2k)

I just want to replace my current Onkyo TX705, which clicks when HDMI signals change, and it drives me up the wall!
