I'm biased because I have the XBR9, but the best thing to do is go to BB and look at them side by side and pick which looks best to you. I shopped the XBR9 and B750 for many weeks.

Just be aware, big box retail store tend to set their TV's set in torch mode. Ask the salesman to put it in movie mode or cinema, bring the movie you're familiar with. A lot of factor to consider, good luck!

I have the Samsung 750a and would buy the 750b in a heart beat. Best LCD I have ever owned and I have owned a few. Nothin wrong with the Sony line either I am just partial to Samsungs.

If you look at the online reviews they are about evenly matched. Good advice to go to the retailer and check them both out but remember that what you see in the store and what you see when you get home is always different. Good luck.

how about ccfl vs edge lit, does samsung have an advantage becasue it does not use ccfl in the 7000? is that a reason to pick the samsung over the sony?

I have seen both tv's at my local BB and both tv's are evenly matched in my book. You cant go wrong with either choice. BUT if it were my money I would go with the XBR9.

XBR because I'm a Sony fanboy.

But both TV's are fabulous.

My vote is the XBR9! I have an XBR4 and I love it! I've always been a big Sony fan but aside all factors the XBR series is just a damn good tv!

If you want a generally brighter picture get the Sony If you want deeper blacks and whiter whites with a more plasma like picture get the Samsung. Just depends on your taste. I agree with the earlier post just go and compare side by side with a dvd/bluray of your liking. I have the first Samsung 1080p plasma and could not be happier but Sony does make a good product. Check out the new Samsung 55" 860 plasma. AWESOME

what concerns me is that ccfl will not the xbr line next year. samsung has already gone edge led lit lcd's. i want to go xbr9 but am concerned that spending that find of money on ccfl is a bad move.
