you have to allow it on your windows media player,

open windows media player, then go to tools, then options, then click the tab library, then you should see config sharing click that, then you should click the lil box that says share my media to and it should pick up an unknown device which is ur ps3, click on the device and allow then apply and close out.
Then go to your ps3 and search for media and it will pick yup your music, pic, vids on your computer for you to look/play on your ps3. Hope it helps

If you've already got your hardware setup, jump straight to the title:

It will show (play) songs from itunes that are NOT puchased from the itunes store. If they are from itunes store or converted in itunes from your CD then it will not recognize or play them. itunes is a proprietary format.

But you can get the protection off them. If you burn them on CD, then rip them from the CD on Windows Media Player, the protection has gone.

You can even rip them right back into itunes from a cd and the protection will be gone.

I never tried it, I prefer ripping them on WMP coz I can rip them as 128kbps MP3's.

If you do it will not recognize them because they are still in itunes format unless you make an mp3 disc from itunes.

Default Having trouble w/PS3 playing Media files from PC

hope this makes sense, i'm kinda a newb on this part, and I did a search but didn't see a thread that addressed this (hope I simply didn't search right)

I've read parts of other threads that mention getting one's PC & PS3 to talk to each other for the purpose of using the PS3 to play music/media that's on the PC. I tried the steps mentioned in those posts (WMP's tools>library>sharing), but I can't get windows media player to recognise my PS3 (apparently it should show up as "unknown device"). My network is wireless, and the PS3 can access the net (so I know it is talking to the router), so I'm at an impasse as far as getting the two machines to recognise each other. I did try to turn my firewall off first, but that didn't seem to help.

Any suggestions?
