Default Snowy picture and white lines.

Im seeing white speckles and lines on my samsung TV. i can't see it from my seating distance, i have to go up close to the screen. its very visible on a dark background. don't know whats causing this. could it be my HDMI cables? i have monoprice cables i've had for 2 years now.

Like you said maybe the HDMI cable. Try another connection like component or something? Then you'll know for sure.

I dont have any other connections. anybody else know what might be causing this?

My friend had the same problem but his were red spots, tiny and random you could only see at about 3 feet. This was a 40" Sony LCD, we tried everything from cables to changing connections. Reluctantly he called a repair guy and it turned out his HDMI ports were going bad. I never heard of this before but he just decided to replace it than repair it. I hope it's only a cable issue for you.
