Default The KURO fairies FINALLY visited!

So I got home the other night after a pretty crappy day at work and decided to watch some new BD i picked up off of craigslist. First I threw in the Incredible Hulk and boy was I surpised to the picture that greeted me! I mean, EVERY frame of that movie looked AMAZING! I was so happy because it actually was showing quality of the same level that I was seeing in pics over on the AVS forums. I didn't finish Hulk though cause I wanted to watch Troy and man was that movie a treat to watch. I had never seen it before but the visuals were great. The movie was just MEH though. I don't know what happened but I'm glad my set decided to pick up its game. Now time to pick up an oppo blu ray player and get a decent sound system.

He wasn't happy with his KURO but now he is. He can't explain why but the new movies looked spectacular.

The Zoof nailed that sucker right on the head! I was NOT happy with the pro111fd but now, for some odd reason, it looks great. any one have BD suggestions that I should watch or purchase?

I used it to watch a movie for like an hour when I first got it because my buddy who helped me move it in wanted to see the quality. Then after that i ran the break in slides for a little over six days straight. After that break in period i set it what D-Nice suggested but then I tweaked it from there.

Mr Day, I have not had it ISF calibrated yet. I plan on getting that done in December.

I suggest you wait for it to be professionally calibrated.

yeah, i'm gonna get it calibrated in December for my birthday. And I meant to say I was gonna make adjustments using the Digital Video Essentials BD, not DVD BD. I don't even know what the heck that would mean. I can't even imagine how much better ISF calibration will make it. Speaking of which, would it be a good idea to have a technician from Magnolia AV come out to do it? Or does anyone know of someone out in SF/Bay area who is good.

If you get an imaging science foundation calibration, do they calibrate all your inputs or do they just calibrate one input?

Ping, over at AVS they have a list of certified ISF techs by area. I will try to find it.

Derek, they calibrate every component you have attached to the TV. If that is 4 ports or 1 they do it all.

By "Magnolia" do you mean Best Buy? If you do mean BB, I very, very, very STRONGLY suggest you NEVER let them touch your HDTV!!!

There is not a day that goes by that I am reminded how happy I am with my Kuro 111fd.

I am surprised it took you the Incredible Hulk and Troy on BD to truly enjoy your Kuro. I noticed the change the first time I watched anything (TV, BD, regular DVD, computer, etc.). I have not come across anything that looks crappy.

I vacilate between getting an ISF calibration or not. When I mentioned this to the wife some months back, she could not believe it would cost in the $400 range.

While the price of the Kuro was high ($4,000 after tax), the overall enjoyment makes up for it.

Enjoy!
