Default Awesome news at my local Blockbuster!!

Just have to share this. I have the BB pass, and I got to the store at least four times a week. My store is one of the 250 selected stores that carries Blu-ray and HD DVd. The selection was around 55 titles for each format. I just went to the store and the Blu-ray section has quadrupled! I asked the manager, and she told that the had received "150 Blu-ray titles" and zero for the DUD. There were like 8 or 9 people around the area talking about the expanded selection. I live in West Kendall (Miami).

There's only 250 BB's that carry Blu-ray? Wow, I thought they all did.

There were 250 for the trial. Expanding to 1700 now.

Cool. I hope some of the locals around here have got their stuff in. I've been driving several miles out of my way to get to one of the initial 250.

My BB in Deptford, NJ has a special section when your first walk into the store. And only has double the number of Blu vs HD-Dvd. Only 250 BB carried blu-ray? Man all 5 BB in 50 miles of my house carry them.

Did you think, like me, that BB meant Best Buy instead of Blockbuster?

I mentioned someplace before that although Blockbuster claimed that the first 250 would continue renting both Blu-ray and HD DVD discs, it would seem a little strange for the next 1450 stores to get 170 Blu-ray titles and the first 250 stores (which one would think were the most important) would end up with a lot less titles (since they didn't seem to have that many). If those first 250 are going to have a big disparity as far as way more Blu-ray titles, then it sounds like this Blockbuster thing is worse for HD DVD than many people thought.

Ya I noticed my BB definatly got a re-stock of blu rays. A week or two ago the shelves were empty and there wasn't much of a selection. Now the shelf is full again with a few more titles. The HD DVD section right next to it is always full and it doesn't look like any of the movies have moved

I love this. My brother got a hd dud add on for his 360 and now he can only rent them online. I wanted to laugh at him because he was upset. Maybe because he bought a piece of crap? Or could it be that BBV finally got the clue about the blu.

The 1/250 store near my home (a little out of the way actually, I drove there after I read this post) had a very similar expansion of BD. Looks like it went from around 50 to 160 for BD, while the HD DVD section is still about 50.

Most of the BD titles were available, including some that Netflix refuse to send to me (e.g., POTCMC, Blood Diamond). Maybe they just got the shipment, I need to go back to check in a few days.

HD DVD fanboys were saying "well, the original 250 stores still carry HD DVD" but it looks like it's really just "carrying" what they already have, not restocking or purchasing new movies....

good stuff

Hey BlueNeon! I used to live in West Kendall but just moved to Los Angeles. Are you talking about the Blockbuster on 137th Ave? I used to go there at least once a week and rent Blu-rays and remember them having 2 sections for each HD format. I'm glad to hear that they quadrupled the BD section! Also, I miss Miami!!

Stopped in at the Blockbuster nearest my house and they had the BDs in. The girl said they would be available to rent on the 10th. Looked to be about 170 BDs. Zero HD LOL. Few if any doubles, mpstly 1 copy/movie. The trial store I've been renting at had them in the original cases just like if you buy them in the store but these were in what looked to be regular BB cases with an ~2 inch blue strip across the top with the Blu-ray logo.
