Question Firmware Update Method

My Panasonic BD-35 can access the web for firmware updates, but my modem and router are on another floor of my home. Burning CD's for the updates is a bit of a pain.

Can I fire up a laptop, establish the Wi-Fi connection, and then run a short ethernet cable from the ethernet jack on the laptop to the jack on the BD-35?

Will this give me the connection I need for the player to find updates?

John

from what I know, it won't work. Unless you can program the computer to be a router. The pc port looks for incomig connection. Any body else have an idea?
