Baraka is amazing. I can't wait to see what they come up with for this.

I would like this to be longer than Baraka. If it's as good as Baraka, that is.

Seen this yesterday at JDIFF and it was just....amazing.

In my eyes it was every bit as good as Baraka.
Even though I was really unsure if this would live up to the high expectations I'd built up, there were still some scenes that were really mind blowing to see.
Mark Magidson, the producer, attended the screening too.
I thanked him afterward and asked if Samsara would recieve the same treatment (8k scan) as Baraka when it was released on BD.
He said it definitely would.
Hope this goes on wider release soon!
I wouldn't be able to say which of the two films I prefer.

At the moment I think they are both as essential as each other.

Thanks for that update! Think we'll see a BD release of it this year?

Unfortunately didn't think to ask him that, I literally caught him as i was walkin out the door and he had a fair few people around him at the time.

I'd imagine (+hope) it will get picked up by a few more festivals and then go on general release in the next few months.
I've heard Baraka however is going to be re-released on the big screen for its 20th anniversary sometime this year. Perhaps they will coincide somehow.

I think Dublin is only the 3rd place Samsara has been shown, after TIFF last year in september & 2 screenings Santa Barbara, CA earlier this month.

I'm not sure how long it usually takes, but I'd like to hope it will see release on Blu at the latest early next year...?

I suspect a release will happen sooner than later, as that's where the money is for these kinds of films. We can hope anyway!

This is great news. I was a little disappointed they didn't release a 70mm print for theatrical exhibition for venues that could still handle that. Its my understanding that its only being exhibited using 4k digital. I know the 70mm film festival at the Seattle Cinerama showed Baraka on 70mm last year for its 70mm Film Fest. Would love to see something like that with Samsara.
