Default Is there a US version of Downfall?

I saw on tower.com that a region 1 locked us/canada version was available. Has this been released in the US? or do I have to import from uk?

As far as I know , the UK one is the only available which is why I ordered the UK one.

You won't be disappointed if you buy from Amazon uk or the movie

Correct. Same size as a normal blu-ray, but the thickness is the size of a DVD.

I loved the movie ( just saw it last week ) so I'm holding onto my copy , if not I would have helped you out.

Good luck!

The height is the same? Great! I might as well import this now! I thought I was going to have to buy another case, download a smaller cover art and everything. I can live with it being thicker just not taller.

It is one of the best movies about WWII and the guy that played Hitler gave one of the best performances in the history of motion picture history. Very, very highly recommmended.

Just so you guys are aware, the UK Blu is lacking the director's commentary (in English) that is on the US DVD, which is why I'm keeping both versions. I think, though, that the Blu has a few extra features that aren't on the US DVD.

Ah that sucks. I have imported it yet but $20 is a good deal. Everyone should see Downfall.

I also have the UK version, its really worth to get it. I ordered it from amazon.ca actually, they did have it new a few weeks ago, price was 28$canadian, but now it's not available anymore.

PQ is very good imo, if youre a grain hater you wont like it though, but i think it looked great.

Yeah also got it from amazon.ca when I noticed it a few weeks back. Knew when I saw it they probably wouldn't have them very long and it sure beats importing it when they import it and you can get the free shipping

Haven't heard anything. Better off just importing it.

I highly recommend that you import it from Amazon UK. Downfall is a great film, and no Blu-ray library is complete without it.

I agree on all accounts. Bruno Ganz was incredible and I absolutely think it was one of the best screen performances ever, and I've seen all the perceived great ones. To me, his performance is far and away better than the great De Niro and Pacino performances. Incredible. I plan on holding out for a US version.

I would not expect to see Downfall on Blu-ray in the U.S. anytime soon. Anything that is not a day-and-date new release is just not selling well enough to justify a BD release. The economics of each title are just not there for Blu-ray yet on marginal selling movies like Downfall. Importing the U.K. version is the right move.

The german and the original version is better than the UK, it has DTS-HD 5.1 sound, it makes all the difence for those who have an AV Receiver.
