Fringe is only DD? - Blu-ray Forum

I got it today from BB and plugged it in and was shocked to see DD only. Is that right, no HD??? Bummer!!

Yeah, WB seems to only do DD on their TV show releases. Smallville is DD only as well. Kinda lame.

Exactly. While it would be nice if WB stepped up and used HD audio for their TV releases, the DD track for Fringe is actually a solid one.

It's still a step up from DVD: the Blu DD track is 640 kbps while DD on DVD tops out at 448. Doesn't take away from the fact that the track is still lossy, though, but Fringe still sounds more than acceptable. (But it could have sounded incredible with a lossless track!)

I thought my gear was broken, i was checking thinking there could be no way. Yup WB coasted on it. Thanks guys, first time watching the show too. It is awesome!!

It took WB years to even commit to lossless audio on their movie releases. We'll likely be waiting til 2012 for them to come around on the TV shows.

I agree. I love the show. Only two more episodes to go before I can finally start watching Season Two's first five episodes that I have recorded.

haven't seen this, and probably won't, but to add to this sentiment I would like to say that "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" had excellent audio despite being DD. I didn't really care for the film, but the audio was great.
