Default TOP 10 Favourite albums!

Thought I'd present to you those albums that I listen to most often, and (quite frankly) never get tired of listening to.

I have all of them on vinyl and CD, plus a few on SA-CD. But the format doesn't matter, it's about the music.

Here we go:

1. Rickie Lee Jones: Rickie Lee Jones (self-titled debut album)
2. Pink Floyd: Dark Side Of The Moon
3. Supertramp: Crisis? What Crisis?
4. Paul McCartney: RAM
5. Dave Brubeck: Time Out
6. The Beatles: The Beatles (White Album)
7. Roxy Music: Avalon
8. Stevie Wonder: Songs In The Key Of Life
9. Mike Oldfield: Tubular bells
10. Fiori-Seguin: Deux Cents Nuits a l'Heure

So what are yours? No crapping on anyone's selection though. These are personal choices and you have every right to enjoy them as you do.

John

Some very nice stuff on there, good to see Mike Oldfield and Roxy Music getting a mention!

I very seldom do lists, but since it's you John Only one per artist and subject to change at the drop of the hat.

1) The Yardbirds - Five Live Yardbirds
2) The Beatles - Beatles for Sale
3) Buddy Holly & The Crickets - The Chirping Crickets
4) Big Country - The Crossing
5) Inspiral Carpets - Devil Hopping
6) The La's - The La's
7) The Small Faces - Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake
8) The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
9) OMD - Architecture and Morality
10) The Cocteau Twins - Treasure

LOL! Most lists do change depending on mood and stuff. Mine have been pretty consistent though over the years. There is the odd one that sneaks in for a few weeks and months, but the ones I listed really are my favourites.

Nice choices you have there QM and very different from what we'll see down the line. I've always been a fan of The Small Faces and OMD, so I like what you selected. And what can one say about The Yardbirds that hasn't been said a thousand times.

Thanks for posting buddy!

John

Good grief that's a nice selection too. Could there be many more sad stories than Nick Drake's? Makes you wonder what would have happened if he had overcome his illness. A three year recording career and incredible legacy.

Great thread idea! Here are 10 of my favourite albums, in no particular order:

* Jeff Wayne: Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds.
* Dire Straits: Love Over Gold (except the title track; if I was hard-pressed I'd probably say that Telegraph Road was my favourite song, period).
* Jean-Michel Jarre: Equinoxe
* Mike Oldfield: Tubular Bells
* Mike Oldfield: QE2
* The Human League: Dare
* Jean-Michel Jarre: Oxygene
* Mark Knopfler: Local Hero (OST)
* Dire Straits: Making Movies
* Prokoffiev: Lt Kije (Fritz Rainer conducting the CSO)

And many more, depending on my mood at the time!

I'm an 80's fanatic, so my current top ten list (excluding greatest hits) is mostly from that decade:

1. U2 - The Joshua Tree
2. Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction
3. Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet
4. Journey - Frontiers
5. Pearl Jam - Ten
6. The Police - Synchronicity
7. Psychedelic Furs - All of This and Nothing
8. Tears For Fears - Songs from the Big Chair
9. Wild Swans - Bringing Home the Ashes
10. Depeche Mode - Some Great Reward

If these albums were all released in hi-res I would be in audio heaven.

Songs from the Big Chair & The Hurting almost made the list and it was a tough decision not to pick one of them. Thanks for including it in yours! It reminds me that they're due for a listen!

You know. I forgot my probably all time favorite off my list and I cannot believe it.

Frankie Goes to Hollywood: Welcome to the Pleasuredome

I also have to agree with the Metallica: Master of Puppets. I won it in vinyl at a carnival when I was a kid. Boy, I wish I still had access to my old albums, but they are probably long gone along with everything else I left at my mom's house.

Everclear is my favorite band ("I don't wanna be your stupid game" from Santa Monica), so...

1) So Much for the Afterglow - Everclear (1997)
2) Sparkle and Fade - Everclear (1995)
3) The Stranger - Billy Joel (1977)
4) An Innocent Man - Billy Joel (1983)
5) A Hard Day's Night - The Beatles (1964)
6) Magical Mystery Tour - The Beatles (1967)
7) New Gold Hits - The 4 Seasons (1967 - this is actually not a greatest hits album)
8) Genuine Imitation Life Gazette - The 4 Seasons (1968)
9) Dangerous - Michael Jackson (1991)
10) Fantasy - Carole King (1973)

When I first started listening to my own kind of music in 1998 it was all about rock. All my favorites were 1990s rock bands (and I still consider them among my favorites), but as I discovered more music, I drifted towards older pop/rock music. The 4 Seasons? What's wrong with me???!!!
