Hopefully New Line will go BD.
I'd like LOTR, The Cell, Freddy Vs. Jason, Lost In Space, The Mask....
Hopefully they'll do, at least, DTS 5.1 but I very seriously doubt they will.

If Hairspray sells well on either of the high definition formats, then hopefully that will mean that New Line will release Rush Hour 3 on Bluray shortly after its theatrical run as well...

I get a kick out of the Rush Hour movies.

It is good news, for starters it'a a film that my girlfriends been wanting to see so that'll be heading into my collection at some point, "some point" being dependant on whether it's region locked in the U.S or not for import through Moveityme.

The other good thing surely is that it'll be a tester for New Line as to how they're other titles would fair on Hi-Def release and which format to skew towards. Either way, the more the merrier..

You may not know it but Hairspray has a built-in audience - the original film and the musical. So Hairspray the film musical may do well with its target audience and just might be a surprise hit.

And seeing that it is a colorful and musical movie, the result should be fascinating to experience on BD. It's a good start for New Line.

It's a start. Not a huge one, but at least they are getting something out there. Where there's one, there will be more! They have plenty of catalog titles that people are anticipating!!!

I'd be interested in 'Freddy Vs Jason' as well. As for 'Jason X'. I'm a sucker for those Jason films!

I hope this means that The Golden Compass will be available on blu-ray. That looks like it's going to be one good movie.

LOTR would pwn on BD. although its not too great of a start to release Hairspray as the first BD flick, but at least its a start. personally i cant wait for the mask to be released ... gotta hear jim yell "SMOKIN!" with his mafioso yellow suit and green face. ah... i can see it now.

Well they're owned by Warner so I'm guessing they will be neutral. The real question is whether they will do HD DVD ports or optimize for Blu.

If they imitate Warner, I think you know what that's going to mean.

The article in the link say Hairspray will be released on Blu-ray, and the other one.

Your memory does serve you correct the Final Destinaton films are Newline as is the Blade Trilogy. The New Line release I can't wait for is Se7en. The other films that should sell like gangbusters is LOTR the Extended Editions. Hopefully New Line will do their Blu Ray releases correctly and give us an uncompressed track of some kind unlike other studios I could mention. But to Paramount's credit I was reading on the forums that they should be supporting lossless codecs soon. In bad news good news.

Bad News
Top Gun will not be getting an uncompressed track.

Good News
Transformers looks like it will have an uncompressed track of some kind. This is probably an Audiologists worst nightmare, but it's music to my ears!
