I'm wanting to upgrade my bedroom set to a bigger TV. My room has a good set of curtains which keeps my room dark so thats why i'm leaning towards Plasma but I wasn't sure about the burn in issue with plasma. Is that always going to be a problem with plasma? I'll most likely just watch TV, blu, and play PS3/360. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks |

Burn-in isn't an issue. Unless of course you're a complete numbskull and abuse your television with a static image set on Vivid for three days. I'm guessing you're not one of those people though.
![]() Yes, go with plasma. You'll get a better image - color accuracy, black levels, motion, etc. You'll get IR, but it's not big deal and goes away after a few minutes most of the time. As long as you use common sense, reasonable settings, and use the pixel orbiter, you'll enjoy a natural cinematic image from plasma. Enjoy. ![]() |

![]() Yes, LCD's suck too if you're not sitting in pretty much the dead center of the viewing area. Some of the more expensive sets have compensated in different ways, but again, they cost a lot more. Plasma is the best way to go. You can get a plasma set that blows any LCD away for a fraction of the price of an LCD. |

What size are you looking for and what is your budget?
I agree with the others, if you just want the absolute best with no budget restrictions, the Pioneer Kuro's are the absolute best. However, if you have a more realistic budget, look at Panasonic's. They are the best for the price. |

Well i ended up buying the samsung PN50B850. I got a killer deal on it! It was an opened item at best buy and i talked them down to $1100. The best part was when i got it home i found a scratch on the screen and i have a brand new one coming to me tomorrow : D the tv is 1.2 inches think and looks great! it'll be calibrated on next week sometime.

Unparalleled black levels + unparalleled ANSI contrast ratio = unparalleled picture. I believe the 2010 Panasonic panels will be surprising a lot of people with the new NeoPDPeco panels including both Viera and Kuro technology. If they're priced even better than this years it will be the panel to beat, likely the V20 series would be my guess? |

Note - plasmas have a glass screen meaning that in a bright room the picture may not be the best.....
Pioneer are great if they are the top models (M and LX) the rest ain that great. Oh some plasmas have poor filters so they look washed out during the day like lcd in a dark room... but generally plasmas are better than LCD... |

Add to the above a plasma display's superior motion resolution. It's amazing how sometimes even the most simple, slower motion can incite blurring from LCDs - sometimes losing over half the screen resolution. Occasionally, motion blurring during slower movement is a part of the source video, but in side-by-side tests, plasma continually reveals itself superior in this arena. This is due to the limitation of pixel response/refresh time in LCD technology. Most people don't notice the blurring, but once you see the difference, you might be swayed to go with a plasma. I have a Sony XBR4 LCD, and I am quite happy with it, but I'm looking at upgrading, and one of the Panny plasmas will likely be my next TV (as the Pioneers are just about all gone). |

You said the rest "ain't that great" when everyone else disagrees. I know you're not in NA, so perhaps you're talking about their LCD line available in other parts of the world...but in NA all the plasma lines from Pioneer are A+++, top of the list. |
