When there's a new firmware upgrade out for your Blu-ray player, do you automatically upgrade or do you only do it if you run into some kind of problem?
In my case, I'm talking the firmware for my Oppo BDP-83 and right now I think I'm two firmware releases behind. Because I've never had any problems playing any discs, I've so far taken the "if it ain't broke" approach... But I just had a look at the release note for the latest firmware and one of the things it says is: "Improved precision for color space conversion." And while I don't even know what that means, I'm all for making improvements to my player. But the "if it ain't broke" mantra keeps playing in my head... hence this thread. So, what do you do? KM |

I have had this player for almost a year, and still run version 1.1 firmware that came right out of the box. I have yet to see any problems with any of the discs I have played. As another poster said, I have a 4GB memory card in the slot, and disable BD-Live as I do not have any need for it. Not sure if that is why I have not encountered any issue, but I absolutely love this player.
Now looking to buy the BD-60 for the den next Friday. Last edited by jstute55; 11-20-2009 at 06:17 PM. |

It's better to upgrade when you can than to wait for Saturday night when you want to watch that new movie, but can't because you need a firmware upgrade!
