It would be nice if they did come out big, not 1 title per week.

It's like a false retreat, where they look like they are not doing much, but by the end of the year, they outflank the enemy and will start to flood the market with titles again on BD.
That will show HD-DUD who's boss :P

And those are just the announced stuff. There's also the rumored releases and the missed day and dates like 28 weeks later, Pathfinder, X1 and X2, etc.

This is why it would not be smart to flood the market with a bunch of titles all at once. People can only afford to buy so many movies per week, month whatever.

I agree, but Id like to see them come hard with 2-3 great releases every week heading into Christmas. Would be great for blu ray.

I think when FOX and DISNEY start to release their films in bulk (well at high quality), there will be an end of HD-DVD and the format war on the horizon.
I just hope that Universal can get out of whatever thing it is they are in that keeps them from going Blu. Whether it be stubbornness, contracts, or whatever.
I love the films they have in their collection and I can hardly wait till they join in the Blu light. (Which means I don't want to wait but will have to for at least a year or 2....)

On my Muppet Show Season 2 set I'm about to review, there's a promo-ad mixed into the previews about Disney on Blu-ray... and they metion a TON of titles coming up for release, which include:

Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Finding Nemo...

Right. Two or three Fox releases per week over a sustained period (several months) will make a bigger dent than a huge deluge of titles. Not to mention hammering HD DVD in the Neilson ratings even more than they are now.

I can just imagine a couple of HD DVD die-hards, sitting on rocking chairs on a porch, sucking their gums. "I remember the good old days when Blu-ray only had a 2:1 sales ratio; now they're up to 5:1".

"Yeah, but just you wait until Disney goes neutral and those Chinese HD DVD players hit the US. Then we'll get 'em!"

All the time blissfully ignoring the tumbleweeds rolling by...

Man, I forgot about all the Disney cartoons which will be huge sellers.

I want Universal too. Some of their new movies arent so hot, but the older ones are. I was going to add a HDDVD player around Christmas but have decided not too. Not going to offer the support, even if they get down to $99.

My wife would flip over that news!
That's great! I can hardly wait.

I think that a controlled release would prolly work, I'm not sure if releasing a lot at once it good... It means there are lots of choices for people to buy so if they don't see what they want with a few titles, they might with a lot. On the other hand, people will have to decide what they want and with a lot of titles released, it would be difficult and possibly shy customers away from buying anything at all.
Still, I hope to see a larger number of releases by the end of the year.

Disney's promo ad also was a very strong push for Blu-ray Disc... they were pushing the FORMAT as much as the HD content. In fact, the whole ad was based on "Blue"... with snippets of movie comments with the word "blue" from their film library. It's all about Blu-ray with the Mouse.

Keep in mind that the likelihood of getting those Uni titles on BD is much greater than Disney on HD DVD. So IMO we should all push BD as hard as we can... which will get Uni over to the blue side even sooner.

Any word on exactly why they haven't gone Blu yet?
I am not sure there is much we can do besides just buying Blu-ray.

You guys should read all the HDDVD fangirls' responses to the TARGET news over at AVM$. It's absolutely hilarious. You can tell they are taking it in a very very bad way.
