I am sad to announce that I had to desert my ps3 as a gaming machine even though i will always favor blu-ray, the ps3 let me down. I did the unthinkable I purchased a 360 elite. I know its not elite only if they had a blu-ray drive. but sony let me down . I guess my ps3 will be a movie player and i will play games on the 360. I am ashamed lol.

That's fine as long as you didn't buy the HD-DUD drive and start buying HD-HUD movies. But I am interested as to why?

I have a 360 and a PS3. The Ps3 is primarly just used as a blu-ray player. I will probably only purchase games that are ps3 exclusive. PS3 is lacking in games, i understand why you would pick up a 360, they have a by far superior game selection right now.

Thanks I never thought i would jump ship. but there is no excuse for no games. will wait for ff13 and assasins creed

Don't worry you're not alone and I don't think it's unthinkable. I have both the PS3 and Xbox 360. I mainly use my PS3 for watching movies. It's a great Blu-ray player.

If you think they're throwing the towel in on the gaming side, you can't have been following the gaming scene for the last three weeks. We've had the typical slow startup and now it's all happening. Bad time to give in IMO.

I ndon't think it is quite that blatent. They aren't intentionally trying to loos the console war. I think it's more that they are so wrapped up in the format war that the console war is all but forgoten about.

Not with the huge game lineup coming...starting with Lair next month and going through the holiday season. There seems to be a lot more exclusive titles lined up for PS3 at the moment, and plenty of multiplatform titles as well. 360 has some very good titles as well but I think you through in the towel a bit too early but since you still have it, you can get any game you want. It is also good to note that while the 360 has been the lead platform for a lot of multiplatform games over the past 2 years, it looks like most are starting to make the switch to make the PS3 the lead platform for their next round of games.

Don't be ashamed. I totally understand. Just don't abandon blu-ray and go the way of HD DVD. You can be a blu-ray supporter AND still buy and play 360 games. I love my Elite, and I own an HD DVD player, but I have not bought an HD DVD movie in a long time. I decided to stop buying HD DVDs altogether because I want this war to be over. I only bought it for the show Heroes, but I'm not even going to buy that on HD DVD when it comes out. Got to send Universal a message: go blu or I won't buy your products. I do think Shinra was right though, the PS3 is about to have some quality games come out. I'm excited. Anywho, enjoy your 360 Elite.

Im about to ebay my 360. Other then gears, it has nothing worth playing. Ill get Gears on PC and be done with this 4th rate hardware known as the 360.

Well, instead of deserting your PS3 as a gaming machine you can look at it the way I see it.

Both systems have great games coming so you can enjoy the best of both worlds.

But to give up on PS3 now is really to shoot yourself in the foot imho.

I agree that the 360 of death has the lead but that can't last, they are already outdated and they have 5-7 more years with the same tired overheating hardware.

But hey, that's just me. Someone's going to be right.

Alot of people are like... OK Sony, Here's my $599.99 Now where are my games? It's not that simple really,What did xbox 360 have for games in it's first 8 months of launch? Answer: Not much. What did The PS2 ($299 was alot 7 years ago) have for games 8 months after launch? Answer: Not Much. Every console in history (just about) has had only medicore games within the first year..It takes a good full year for the AA and AAA games to come out...Devil May Cry was the first PS2 system seller and that came out in 2001 (PS2 came out in 2000),If are complaining that there is no games for a system...then don't buy (any system) till at least a year has past.

Sony stallworth Metal Gear Solid 4 will be the death knell for Xbox game fans.

Its the real deal and is not being rushed to market so it can exploit all of what PS3 has to offer.

PS2 has far, far, far, far more great games. It's been out 7 years!
