Default Grosse Pointe Blank

Any news on this title? I know it's not new or big but I can't believe upon searching this whole forum it's never been mentioned once. It's really a great movie and it's not dated at all.

The studio is Caravan Pictures and it was distributed by Hollywood Pictures and Buena Vista Pictures.

It stars John Cusack as a kind of yuppie hit man at his home town for a high school reunion. It's a very funny dark comedy.

One of my all time faves. I imported the Japanese DVD just so I could have an anamorphic version of it. I pray that it gets a proper BD release soon.

I hate to be the one to always say this, but this kind of thread absolutely should have a question mark in the title or should be posted in the Wish List forum.

Few films need a home video upgrade more than Grosse Pointe Blank which is still only available in a lackluster, non-anamorphic DVD in region 1.

This was actually one of the very first movies that I bought on DVD when I got my first DVD player in 1998. I'd probably upgrade to Blu-Ray on this one, especially with the DVD being non-anamorphic.

yeah this movie was one of my first DVD's as well, along with Austin Power 1.

This thread really should be in the wishlist section

I'd be happy with a combo High Fidelity/Grosse Pointe Blank if that's what it took.

Would definitely get a Blu of the classic '80's nostalgia film Grosse Point Blank. The old DVD is non-Anamorphic & OOP, so it's definitely high time this was released on HD.

Recently re-watched this film - great movie, with a great storyline & incredible soundtrack.

Possibly my favorite scene was when Martin Blank (Cusack) had that
[Show spoiler]fight to the death w/the rival assassin in the hallway of his old high school - all while Nena's "99 luftballons" played over the loudspeakers - LOL.

As an '80's kid I felt old when this movie came out in 1997...and that was 23 years ago. Reminders about how long it's been since you've graduated high school are a sure-fire way of making you really realize how old you are - LOL.

This was probably the first & definitely the BEST of those "10-year high school '80's reunion" movies that came out in the late '90's - the other two that come to mind are "Romy & Michele's High School Reunion" (1997) and the much more obscure TV film "Since You've been gone" (1998), starring David Schwimmer.

I've seen a DVD combo of both films, but no Blu - yet.
