Arrow Classic B-rated sci-fi?

So, if you go through my collection you'll see that I have most of the classic sci-fi, b-rated, films that are out(to the best of my knowledge). Some that are coming out later this year include, PIRANHA, and FORBIDDEN PLANET. Is there any other ones coming out his year that I'm missing?

Classic sci-fi b-rated films I'm looking for are mostly from the 50's through 70's... maybe early 80's.

Thanks!

Do you count the 1980s Harryhousen version of Clash of the Titans, due out March 2nd?

There are also the Dennis Quaid film Dreamscape, April 6th.

Where would you see stuff like Class of Nuke 'Em High and some of the other Troma Studio releases?

Yeah, I have CLASH OF THE TITANS in my "wishlist"(forgot to mention it).

But yeah, stuff like that... that has "monsters" in them... like PIRANHAS that eat you. LOL

How about DEATH RACE cars driven by Keith Carradine and Sylvester Stallone?

DREAMSCAPE in particular is an excellent film. Trancends its B-movie genres into something really imaginative and foreboding for the time.

For Ray Harryhausen I wish they would release Jason & The Argonauts and all 3 Sinbad movies

"Clash of the Titans", "Dreamscape", nor "Forbidden Planet" are considered "B" movies by any stretch of the imagination.

"Forbidden Planet" is a landmark Sci Fi, "Clash" landmark fantasy, and "Dreamscape" is just a run of the mill Sci Fi/Horror, with same major players (Quaid, von Sydow, Plummer). Joe Ruben has a pretty impressive resume, starting with that movie.

Anywho, a lot of actual B movies by Roger Corman are making their way out, and Troma is entering Blu-ray with "Poultrygeist".

There's some stuff available as we speak, like "Earth vs the Flying Saucers", which you can find individually if you import through the UK, otherwise, it's part of a Harryhausen set. "Night of the Creeps" is a good B Horror/Sci Fi as well.

I would consider the collection idenitified in the link as "classic" B-movies. My personal favorite is "Tarantula". I imagine these won't be released on BD anytime in the near future.

or anything like it unfortunately. I wonder when blu-ray will be mainstream enough to start releasing the older classics of sci-fi and horror?

yeah, seems like there is plenty of the Classic Sci-fi stuff available..I wish Universal would release it's Classics Monster Series the same way it was realease on DVD.....as well as the 50's titles like "Creature from the Black Lagoon" and "It Came from Outer Space", etc...
speaKing of Harryhausen, I hope Warner decide to release "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms " as well as "Valley of Gwangi"...also,the underrated, "Mysterious Island" as well as the "First Men in the Moon" ...should make the fans quite happy...
Here's hoping...

Nick

guys, GUYS!!! Stop it or I'm starting to cry right now and right here!
I mean I grew up with these movies and I would STEAL the very first
blu-ray from the assembly line - should there be any such of this kind in a BR factory...
When my sister and I were children about the age of 10 to 14 these classics
were shown over here in Germany in a series called "Mumien, Monstren, Mutationen" (guess I don't have to translate that).
And I still can remember the shivers when the various monsters gave us the creeps,
ahhhh ... those where the days

YESSSS!!!!! GIVE DEM TO ME!!!!! (no, not "your clothes, ...!", da classsics!!!)

The Mutant Chronicles might be considered a B Sci-fi movie (I have not even seen it yet, though).

I saw those as a kid when they were first run in the theater and remember how much fun they were to watch. Another one was the B&W 1951 version of "The Thing" that I saw with members of my high school band at a camp in the 70's, one of my all-time favorite movie memories. That is why I probably favor campy sci-fi flicks like "Tremors" over the gore-oriented fare that has predominated the last 10 years.

It is not on Blu-ray yet, but Cube would be a good choice.

And for those who want to make Elm Street comparisons, Dennis Quaid not only beat Freddy to the screens by six months, but co-writer Chuck Russell went on three years later to direct Nightmare 3: Dream Warriors, the one that "rescued" the series by, well, turning it into "Dreamscape".
