Default Guitar Hero 3 guitar work with Rock Band? (vice versa?)

I read on another message board that the guitar from one game will be compatible with the other game. Has anyone heard about this? Any links saying this is true? Which guitar will work with which game?

I doubt it. If you look at the guitar for rock band you will see it has the 5 fret buttons like gh guitars but if you look closely at it you will see 5 more fret buttons down lower towards the body.

they will be compatible. the buttons on the lower part do the exact thing as the buttons on the upper part.

Ok so it's a possibility that the Rock Band guitar will work with GHIII?

its been stated that the GH III controller will be compatible with ROck Band but no word as of yet if it would be vice versa....im thinking yes but have to wait and find out....i ordered all the controllers and game already so my GHIII controller will act as my bass controller for Rock Band....plus who cares about the guitar controller....the drums for Rock Band are the shit, check out the video at IGN.com of them in action...insane.!

Um, I care about the guitar controller. Rock band is adding a lot to them like solo frets and a three step equilizer. I want to mess with that stuff in Rock Band and not be robbed of it because I have GH3 contollers only.

It would make more sense to buy just Rock Band guitars for both games if they are compatable since they do everything GH controllers do plus more.

The Guitar Hero controllers will work with Rock Band unless Red Octane blocks it. The extra fret buttons are not the same as the top ones, they're for "finger picking"

Given that Activision will remove your posts from the GH forums for even MENTIONING Rock Band, I'm sure they'll do everything possible to block RB controllers from working

The buttons function as the same thing, the only difference is you won't need to strum during certain sections of the game (solos). Anyway, your point about Activision is what makes me think Rock Band controllers won't work for GH3. No one will buy GH3 controllers if they do. Kinda sucks, cause now I'll have to have like 3 guitars just to be able to play both games with 2 guitars. Lame.

Harmonix has stated that Rockband will support all 3rd party guitar controllers. That means that most likely the GH3 controller will fall into that category...

...but the other way around is another story.

And that is all I care about right now, whether or not Rock Band's guitars will work with GH3 or not. I hope yes, feel like it's gonna be a no though.

That's what makes me sad, because the game should have had a Les Paul from the get-go. Strat is a classic but definately not a fave, and the X-plorer on the 360 GH2 is just butt ugly.

It's funny tho, cause i always figured Wii would go Flying V

Either way, I'll buy GH3 on PS2 and go for the Rock Band strat. Something tells me that especially with the stupid "video game" changes to it that the Guitar Hero franchise isn't long for this world

Default Rock Band 360 to have Wired Guitars

Shed a tear Xbox 360 owners, as the bundled guitars in the Xbox 360's version of Rock Band will not be wireless. Yes, while your friends are beating on the drum kit or screaming into the mic, you won't be able to dive off of your couch into a pile of empty pizza boxes and spent soda cans while rocking out to "Blitzkrieg Bop."

The news comes from Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos via the OXM podcast, reasoning that Microsoft's proprietary wireless technology is too expensive. With worry that the additional cost would slow sales of the already high priced bundle, Rock Band's makers decided instead to use traditional wires. We tend to disagree with this decision, as you can't put a price on freedom of movement when you're rocking out.

This news is a blow to the Rock Band for the 360, as the game will have wireless guitars on the Playstation 3, and Guitar Hero III will be available with wireless axes on all next-gen platforms. Hopefully for 360 owners, Harmonix and Microsoft will be able to work out a deal in the future.

to quote Nelson from the Simpsons: "ha-ha!"

'bout time the PS3 got a leg-up on one of these cross platform titles!

I don't think it's that bad. I use wired guitars for all my GH games (360 and PS2). Doesn't bother me in the slightest.

But not even having the option would be bad.

There are those classic scenes in Spinal Tap where Nigel Tufnel gets radio interference through his wireless unit. I wonder if this aspect will be included in the PS3 version.

Merged threads as the wired-only topic was off-topic for the PS3 forum but interesting enough that it may spur on more GH3 and Rock Band discussion.

I will prob. switch back to Cooper once the novelty of having the much-reviled Amir as my avatar has worn off.
