OK, I consider myself a freak of a good sound and sharp picture (but in the limit of a family with kid budget). I mostly purchase bluray discs of cartoons (e.g. Up, Cars, ), documentaries (e.g. Planet Earth) and movies that will be re/watched many times (e.g.Iron man). Generally I don't buy blurays on movies that contain many dark scenes , shot in the night. For the rest I still buy DVDs, here in Germany the price is still at least double for BD vs. DVD.
Lately I've got Transformers 2 on DVD. The picture is nicely upconverted, crisp with rich colours when played on BD player. The sound is MORE, MORE THAN AWESOME, shaking the entire room even at low volumes, in one word VERY VERY SATISFACTORY. I am thinking to get the both Transformers movies (1 & 2) on BD as well. Did somebody compare the sound on BD and DVD, is it really such a difference on BD vs. DVD that worths forking 24 Euros (one BD only) for the BD version (e.g. Transformers 2 DVD costed 9,99)? As I said, with picture I am fine, sound is the one I am interested the most. Last edited by ninel; 03-09-2010 at 10:29 AM. |

You do know that the post you replied to was 14 years old?
But while we are on the topic, I have Transformers Revenge of the Fallen on Blu-ray in the IMAX enhanced special edition (USA only) as well as the standard letterbox version (both UK and German) and the sound is noticeably better on the standard version.
