Default Transformers (Sound Issue)

Has anyone noticed minor distortion in a couple of parts of Transformers, the part near the end where Megan Fox tells Shia LaBouf she is glad she got in the car with him (distortion when she is speaking) and the part where Jon Voight is speaking whilst the decepticons are being dumped into the water (a crackle under his voice).

Timeframe for first problem: 2:13:30
Timeframe for second problem: 1.59.13

Can anyone else confirm this problem this is using a PS3 an Onkyo HTX22HD and through HDMI via LPCM

?

Almosts sounds like they're too close to the mic and it's crackling? Yup. I have that exact issue on the U.S. release as well so I think it's just part of the master.

Hopefully these issues will be corrected for Transformers 2's bluray, i have tried everything to stop this problem but nothing seems to work even setting it to bitstream to listen to it at normal DD doesnt make a difference although its much louder than the TrueHD track.

Any other bluray's have **** ups like this?

Yes there are others out there. The onlyone i can think of right now i belive was Blade runner. But i kinda let it go and blamed it on the age but if you dig over at AVS i think there may be a thread about it if you care. But it was not as bad or noticable as Transformers.
Hopefully we dont get more crap like this for our money. This is not what we pay for

Yeah, they have the cheek to say "don't be a knock off nigel" etc etc, yet when we buy a movie there are still problems

It's not really a mess up, it's just the way they recorded the dialogue on set. The mic may have been positioned to close to the actor's mouths or something. Or if they dubbed it later on they may have been too close or the person doing the recording was asleep at the wheel. It was there theatrically as well. There are moments in Transformers 2 where I noticed it too so brace yourself...

If you want to hear a really messed up disc where it's not actually part of the master, check out Unbreakable. That movie has the worst pops/clicks ever and they're not present on any track other than the PCM.

The definition is so high, you can hear every mistake! lol
But yeah, even if that's the case, they should fix any mistakes...
I wouldn't know what's up with this though.

LOL.

Hello all, first time poster. Just found this website on a Google search cause I thought either I was crazy, hearing things, or had defective equipment.

So I searched for "audio crackling blu-ray Transformers" and found a link to this thread. The moments in question are the EXACT moments I've been worrying about. I switched out the center channel and everything to see if that was faulty. Heard nothing wrong in other movies and music, but I couldn't get my mind around the fact something was wrong with the mother of all audio/visual blu-ray demo disks - Transformers! Nothing could POSSIBLY be wrong with that, right? Its my center channel. Swapped one of the rears, same problem. Ok, not the speaker - damn its the receiver. But why does music sound good? Ok Google search. And here I am. LOL

Anyway, nice to meet you guys. I actually laughed and said "no way" when the scenes in question were mentioned because they were the specific scenes I was concerned with. Glad to know its not my equipment or my sanity now.

Hi there,

I've also noticed distortion in Transformers in a few additional scenes on the blu-ray disc. At 3:09 (close to the beginning, where they're flying in the helicopter to the base, and right before they land) there's some symphony music playing in the background. On my setup, the right speaker seems to distort slightly at certain stages during the music's peaks.

I've put my ear right against the right speaker and I can hear the distortion there, but not on the left speaker. I've also turned down the sound all the way and I can still hear the distortion, which is what leads me to believe its part of the audio track as opposed to my hardware.

However, last night I played Terminator Salvation in blu-ray on the system for the first time and I must admit I played it a bit too loud. One of my rear speakers is now actually distorting slightly (confirmed via swapping it with the other and doing some tests at low and high volume). Thus I'm a bit nervous now that I also damaged my front right speaker with last night's high volume Terminator

I've got a Denon AVR1909 and PSB Image T45s and a C40 center. My rears are Mission M3dsi's.

Could anyone else confirm if they also get that distortion in the music in this scene on the right channel in Transformers?

Regards
Law
