Whoa. That's a pretty sick deal IMO. I strongly dislike Xbox 360 (the same way I hated the first Xbox) but if I were considering buying a 360 that'd easily be the extra push I needed.

Good thing this kind of deal wasn't around when Gears of War hit big, I was almost convinced to buy one, but then I just copped my friends 360 for few hours and finished the game. That ended that whole debacle pretty quickly lol.

I don't think those controllers are the wireless ones.

The PS3 still a great value. At US$100 cheaper than this one, you get 5 BDs free and it does Dolby TrueHD decoding, 1080p24, plays SACD....

Hell even at $599 the 80 gig PS3 with Motorstorm is a better deal than this. Not to mention if you want to play online you have to pay an extra $100 for a wireless router.

I'm not entirely sure how much of a sale or a discount that really is. the Elite recently got a price drop as well as the HD DVD add on. In the end maybe you get "300 the movie" for free, along with all the other free stuff, but spend 600 in one sha-bang and get 30 dollars back? That's really not that great of a sale.

They are desparate and just riding the coat tails of Blu-Ray. It's a good thought, but most people who have the X-Box360 have the original 60 gig like myself and are not going to waste $600 on the same system because it's black and has HDMI ports, so I think it's not going to benefit them in the long run regardless.

If you buy an xbox 360 today, or above the 8/8/07 date it will have HDMI regardless if it was an Elite or not. I myself purchased an Elite only because I wanted the 120 gig harddrive because I download a bunch of stuff from TV shows to arcade games, to just ripping. The Media Center features are wonderful and serves as a pretty good substitute until I get a PC for my LCD TV. Currently only using a laptop, and even then I approach the idea that a laptop can be on 24/7 like a desktop very seriously.

I have to say there is no question in my mind that the PS3 is definatly a better deal....BUT, I been kinda wanting a 360 for the games. And that is a really good price point. Same price I paid for my PS3 with NO games and NO movies. This comes with 7 movies in HD.

My only real reserve is that the 360 is a PIECE OF CRAP!!!! as far as hardware goes. I just dont want the thing to break down on me.

I am Blu-ray all the way but I can see where these things could sell some serious HD-DVD players

Sorry to display my ignorance of the 360, BUT...

I hear everyone talking about getting the 120Gb to replace their 60Gb... can you not replace the hard drive like you can in the PS3...

If not, this become yet ANOTHER selling point for the PS3... UPGRADABILITY!

You cannot replace the 360's HDD without a Microsoft-modified hard drive. It uses a wonky connector that is incompatible with a standard HDD of any type.

BTW, for the PS3 owners out there; USB HDDs also work for the PS3. If you need more space but can't be hassled to open the docking bay or re-download stuff, just buy an external USB HDD, format it using FAT32, add 3 folders called MUSIC, PICTURE, and VIDEO and you're off to the races:

No, you can replace it or upgrade it, but you have to be somewhat tech savvy. You'll have to partition the HDD's in a paticular way, I'm sure there are programs or things you can use if you look in the underground sections of the internet. But in the end it's like 100+ dollars for the HDD, and if you look up notebook drives that are 100+ gigs and 7200 rpm's you're almost always going to play 100+ dollars anyways. If you can find a deal it's not going to be lower then 85 dollars. The time it takes to do everything would not justify just spending the money. Notebook HDD's 7200 rpm's are not cheap. I should know I just bought a 200 gig notebook drive 7200 rpms for a boat load. Oh and to opent he 360 Drive you'll need a star drive, but seeing as how evyerthing is connected to the intener to microsoft, I'd be careful because if they detect changes or adjustments you could ban your serial code on the system, requiring you to buy a new 360 all together.

And about the PS3, now I have nothing against the PS3, but I don't quite see the uses nor the need for 60+ gigs on the HDD, when the downloadable content is pretty much limited, especially if it's just for games. In the end Video's are going to be what's eatting up my HDD, not Games.

HighDef downloadable rentals average 6GB

Expansion packs for games can be 3 or 4 (Oblivion)

fills 20GB pretty fast
