Default why is a paramount film on PS3 network??

here's something weird. Recently released on Playstation network was Beowulf, a new Paramount movie. After recent events, WHY IN THE HELL is that on there?!

This HD-DVD deal has NOTHING to do with Paramount to release a movie trailer on a particular network, website, service, or brand of movie theatre. Why does there have to be another Paramount this, and Paramount that thread, really?

Movie trailers have NOTHING to do with blu-ray. Movie trailers are advertisements for their theatrical release and not for a yet unreleased or announced HD title for home viewing.

Besides this thread has already been covered here:

Same reason there are Disney movies on Xbox Live.

The optical media strategy doesn't mean they pass up marketing and sales opportunities in areas that don't directly affect HDM. Besides, it's actually pretty easy for the studios to commit to give content to these services...the same can't be said for physical media.

I think it just goes to show Sony is the better company contrasted with paramount. If a movie is superior, they will support it, no matter the politics involved. Just like they support the better technologies, they can recognize when a film/writer/director is good and support it/them.

It has alot to do with blu-ray. Most of the movies that have trailers on PSN will likely be released on blu-ray, except now the Paramount/Dreamworks films. You don't see Universal trailers on PSN.

It's sort of like HBO "Behind the scenes". Those movies always wind up on HBO when the time comes.

Either there is a contract involved in showcasing these trailers or Sony somehow forgot or doesn't want to retaliate by removing such trailers.

At least companies like Disney are getting money by being on Xbox live. These Paramount trailers on PSN is pratically free advertising.

I think sony is just being nice i mean the paramount deal is only for 18mo. after that they might be free to do what they want. And frankly after the deal is over i think they will return to blu-ray so i guess i should thank all of those hd supporters because their money and the 150 million might be invested some how on blu-ray (like on extra content java or something like that) here is a question those anyone know if the paramount hd movies can be realease on blu-ray after the deal is over? is it in the contract?

Because Paramount recognizes that the PS3 has a good install base - good enough to advertise their movies on.
