Default # of all-time highest grossing movies made by blu-ray/hd-dvd studios

thought i would do a quick comparison of the all time highest grossing movies (not adjusted for inflation), and here's what i found at the following link...http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/world/

74 of the 100 top movies are distributed by blu-ray supporters

54 of the 100 top movies are distributed by hd-dvd supporters

I was quite surprised that it was that much of a gap even after the paramount/dreamworks thing. at first glance, even if another blu-ray studio went hd-dvd exclusive, it would still be almost even.

i'd check the top 500 if i had the time but i dont

Besides, the #1 movie of all time is released by Fox internationally...

Actually, by my count, 8 of the HD DVD exclusive titles were directed by Steven Spielberg, who's films are specifically exempt from HD DVD exclusivity deals.

So, adding those titles to the Blu-ray count, Blu-ray has 82 of the Top 100 titles, while HD DVD is still at 54. And of the other 18, many of them likely have international rights held by Blu-ray supporting studios. An prime example is #1 ranked, Titanic, which was a co-production of Paramount and 20th Century Fox, with each company retaining distribution rights in different areas.

It is completely nuts how far off the number are. Also, for anyone who cares about the overall studio numbers for the last two years, I've attached an image of studio percentages for 2006 and YTD 2007. Blu-ray has a sizeable advantage there as well.

The chart I attached shows Paramount as HD DVD exclusive, so it doesn't take into account the titles already released on BD by Paramount.
