The LOTR movies are New Line Cinema, owned by Warner and therefore both.

That sums up the problem facing HD DVD. Three exclusives versus 17 (over half the list is BD exclusive). 6 of top 10 are BD exclusive.

We are supposed believe that the general consumer is going to ignore that list and go HD DVD with full confidence that they can sway the ultimate availability of those titles over to HD DVD?

We can only hope the consumer educates themselves about the differences between HD-DVD and blu-ray before making their purchase. I have a hard time thinking about the idea someone may be educated in these numbers and still decide to buy into HD-DVD. At the very least they should sit the war out until the situation becomes more clearer if the have beef with Blu-ray prices.

Is there a realistic chance that Jurassic Park or E.T. could see the light of day for HD-DVD before the year is up?

Mmm... New Line Cinema is owned by Time Warner. And so is Warner Bros...
Has New Line Cinema already chosen for HDDVD/BD? Isn't it independent enough to choose..?

Only when Time Warner says they are.

Et and Jurrasic park are owned by Spielberg and he said that he is not planning to release on HD DVD.

Not anymore. Whatever chance was there was destroyed by the HD DVD PRG sticking it up as a fait accompli, presumably in hopes of kickstarting an OK from Spielberg. Days later they had to post an apology.

I don't expect such stupidity to be rewarded.

That Speilberg business was a major blow to the HD-DVD camp. That's one of their favourite cards that they thought they had secure.

Nice info. Yet another reason among many that Blu-ray will dominate this point forward.

wow... thems are the top 30 of all time??? i must be in that other crowd.. i would get 4 max of those titles and most likely not get them at all.

e.t. - just because its been years
the matrix - on hd of course (just something about my rca, maybe it makes the movies look waaay better.. lol)
p.o.t.c (both) - probably wont purchase, but thats just because i like what my hd dvd player plays.

its a shame that all studios and electronic companies are not neutral.. it would remove the bias and one would overcome. AND PLEASE no fanboy remarks to this post.
