I liked the origional House of 1000 Corpses...

But it was called The Texas Chainsaw Massacure back then.

Devil's Rejects was better.

I have this BD. It looks surprisingly good. I remembered the movie being grainy and dark, and certainly some parts are (on purpose by Rob Zombie), but others are amazingly crisp with bright colors and superb detail. Also, it contains a BD-exclusive game called "Zombietron" or something like that where you run around the screen as the sheriff trying to free victims from the family of crazies. Not exactly revolutionary, but a nice bonus.

I thought house of 1000 corpses was a real good movie, but I pretty much love the way Zombie shoots movies. I'd say it's definitely worth picking up, but IMO Devils rejects was certainly a better movie.

I have to agree with you (to a point); I thought Corpses had some glimpses of - dare I say- genuis (I dare! I dare!) to it. But he, zombie, went away and more mainstream for Rejects. I was disappointed with his treatment of Halloween (from what I can tell) as well.

Have you seen Halloween?
He definitely put HIS OWN style to it! It pays homage to the original but the rest is ALL him. I saw it last weekend, and while it isn't better than the originial, it was still damn good. There are some minuses though of course (when compare to much)!

No, I haven't seen it (that's why I said from what I could tell) and I don't know if I will.. was he even called The Shape or was it just Micheal Myers? I just can't talk about it anymore.. getting too worked up thinking about the whole dynamics of the movie being changed..

My thoughts exactly. I think he was cutting his teeth with House, and took what he learned into Devil's Rejects. Now if a studio were to release the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre on BD, that would be great.

Love this movie, Rob Zombie is somehow a genius at his own style of horror.

If anyone saw the DVD release of House of 1000 corpses, you know how AWESOME the dvd meny was. Sig Haig, Sherry Moon Zombie, and Bill Mosely acting out new scenes just for the menu. Unfortunately, I read a review of House of 1000 Corpses on Blu-Ray and this menu is no longer there. FTL.

I concur; It's actually a really good example of HDM. The flesh tones (when meant to be) are very natural and colors are clear. The 'static' looks much clearer on the BluRay version than SD and it adds to the noir feeling.

When the scenes shift to the red hue and/or the blue hue the contrast and vivid colors become a character unto themselves.

Some titles bleed colors and they have a tendancy to scream "look at me! I'm high def!" whereas the colors here look very warm and natural.

Good job. If you like this style of movie I would say this BD is made for you.

It's like a typical horror movie from the 70's (more or less) but there are many nifty editing tricks and camera work that you may either like or loathe.
