Default Is this statement true (Will Samsung/Sony have internet connections)?

One thing that strikes me as odd, though, is that both the Sony and Samsung players lack Internet connections for special features and firmware upgrades. Both Toshiba players have these functions, and they seem like great features for upgrading the player.

this came from DVD Town with the heading what's up with Blu- Ray

The Samsung does not appear to have an internet connection:
http://www.samsung.com/Products/DVDP...Specifications

The Sony doesn't either except for a mention of Java support:
http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...=feature&var2=

I know BD-Java is for interactivity but I don't know exactly how this works with the internet. To be honest, I'm not interested in this aspect of BD so I haven't read up on it and really don't have a clue about this. Hopefully someone else will chime in with more info.

If it doesn't have internet connections on the back, you can probably just record the firmware upgrades to a CD (like Denon's stuff). I personally will not be using the internet connection on the back of my HD-DVD player or any other player. It's too much of a hassel.
